It was declared by local fishermen tobe the largest dclphin ever caught in. these waters. 2 A large, broad head and a thin bedy tapering off from the head to the tail were the outstanding character- istics of the record-breaking dolphin. Hooked and landed by Ben Demeritt, Frank Hemmett, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C, Hemett of California, was given the thrill of fighting the menster a short time, after which the Demeritt fisher- man brcught the record fish to boat. Seven other dolphins were landed, averaging between two and three pounds. Young Hemmett was ac- companied by the family chauffeur, Fred Houble. The Hemmetts are visiting for a few days in Key West. Included in the catch yes- terday were approximately 200 pounds of snapper, over 100 pounds of yellowtail and approximately 100 pounds of snapper. A moray, measur- ing five feet in length, was . caught and placed ‘in the well of the boat alive. Imme- diately the “snake of the sea” swallowed two yellowtails and a dolvhin, satisfying its hunger. The moray, when brought to vort, was placed in a fish “car” tied to Swee- ney’s dock along with anoth- er member of this species to await the arrival of a collec- tor from the New York Aqua- rium, who is due next week.
