Young Sawyer was found in an unconscious condition Monday morning in the Toppino Hotel at Marathon, having reached there Sunday night after leaving Key West on the afternoon bus. Im- mediately after being found phy- sicians were summoned from the C.C.C. camp at Summerland Key, | but their efforts to restore con- sciousness proved of no avail, and; he was brought to the Marine hospital where he died about 9:15 the same night. It was said that Sunday after- noon when purchasing his ticket for Marathon, Sawyer placed a dollar bill and a 25 cents piece on the counter, and was handed the ticket to Marathon and his change of twenty cents. He apparently had no other money. The contents of his grip re- vealed no clothing of value, and a box of permanganate of potas- sium tablets. If he did die of poison and the tablets were the poison used, it is presumed that he used something in connection with the tablets to alleviate the the suffering which would result from the use of them.
