The light- heavyweight champion, John Hesry Lewis, has agreed to take on the Brown Bomber, Joe Louis, and the papers have been signed. Promoter Mike Jacobs has an- nounced that the bout will be staged as stated weeks ago. It will be the first fight for Heavy- weight Champion Joe Louis since he knocked out Max Schmeling in June. John Henry, who fights out of Pittsburgh but comes Phoenix, Ariz. will make the Brown Bomber put on his crown for the first time to meet a boxer of his own race. Tuesday, Louis proclaimed, “I ain’t drawing color line. I'll fight anyone. That’s my business”, ‘fhe fight is an unusual one. It is the first all-negro heavyweight title battle since Jack Johnson, then champion, outpointed Batt-' ling Jim Johnson in Paris in 1913. This bout will not with the proposed Baer-Louis go; at the World’s Fair in San Fran- cisco in April of next year should Lewis win. This wlil be the fifth time Joe Louis has defended his title and he always gets the lion’s share of the purse. He licked Nathan Mann, Harry Thomas and outpointed, Jimmy | Farr, then won from Braddock in| Chicago and the one-round knock- out over Max Schmeling. | The negro fighters will enter! the ring at any weight they/ please.
