PAGE FOUR CURRY HARRIS | ~ GAVE ADDRESS AT ROTE MEET THREE GUESTS ATTEND REG- | ULAR LUNCHEON WHICH WAS HELD YESTERDAY AT PARISH HALL Next Thursday, which will be Thanksgiving Day, there will be no meeting of the Rotary Club. | This announcement was made at the regular meeting which was held at the regular hour yester- day in the Parish hall of St. Paul’s Episcopal church. Members declare the meeting to have been one of the outstand- ing gatherings of the year, which was particularly emphasized by the wonderful talk on Rotary, its Principles and Ideals, which was given by Rotarian W. Curry Harris. Mr. Harris began his talk by saying that “all Rotarians, in- cluding the youngest neophyte among us, know, or should know that the basic underlying prin- ciple of Rotary Clubs throughout the world is service, in its differ- ent forms. Perhaps Paul Harris, when he founded Rotary, had in mind only one subject, the mutual benefit to be gleaned by each Ro- tarian from a better understand ing of the vocational problems of his fellow Rotarians. “Such indeed does seem to be the case I feel convinced that he had no conception of the magni- tude to which the seed germinated ‘ and fostered by him would grow. In addition to vocational serv- ice there are now three other and well defined lines of service governing each Rotary Club throughout the world, and by which each Rotarian, if he is a real Rotarian, should be gov- erned.” The speaker then began a brief , of the several services | to which Rotarians are pledged and said that “A study of the four classifications of Rotary service readily convinces us that! the objects of our organization are highly idealistic.” Mr. Harris then gave a recapi- tulation of activities which have taken place in Key West and Monroe county, touching on the) many things which have been in- dicative of an advancement which | city and expressed themselves as! has been greater than was an-j|having thoroughly enjoyed their) ticipated and concluded this part of the talk by saying: “I therefore think that you will| agree with me when I make the Porch, secretary; O.
