Cover or Minimum Charges A concerted drive «sr funds urgently needed to defray the ex- | penses of the Overseas Highway Celebration, July 2-4, will be im- mediately started by the finance committee, according to an an- nouncement made yesterday by -B. D. Trevor, chairman of the committee, following a meeting of the committee at celebration headquarters in the La Concha Hotel. The committee also decided to issue a daily announcement of contributions received by the lcommittee beginning next Wed- nesday. This announcement will contain a list of the names of all) contributors to the celebration fund and the amount contributed by each donor. All checks should be made payable to Carl Ber- valdi, treasurer of the celebration | committee, The board of county commis- sioners of Monroe county started the list of contributions by pledg- ing $2,000, to the celebration fund. The tentative budget calls for an estimated expenditure of $7,500, which must be raised as soon as possible. Members of the finance com- mittee stated that they felt that ; }the necessary money could be raised without any great diffi- Ceulty as soon as citizens of Key West realized what the success of this great celebration means to the progperity of the city and to every business man and citizen. The attention of the entire na- tion is being centered on Key West and the only seagoing high- way in the world which connects it with the mainland of Florida. This is Key West's opportunity to become the greatest resort center in the nation, and the few dollars spent now will be repaid a thou- sand fold in future business, it is stated, VERY SMALL SPONGE SALE There was a small sale of sponges on the Municipal Sales Dock yesterday, only four offer- ings being put on the wharf at the hour of sale. There were two lots of wool, one lot of two bunches bringing 65 cents, and another of six bunches, which sold for $10.66. Ten bunches of yellow sold for $2.75 and five bunches sold for 55 cents.
