PAGE SIX MANY BUILDING PERMITS ISSUED .ONE APPLICATION IS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF CIS- TERNS AT CASA MARINA Florida East Coast Hotel Com- pany, owners of the Casa Marina Hotel in Key West, have secured permits from Building Inspector | Harry M. Baker, for the construc- tion of two cisterns in Key West! in connection with the hotel. Application was made yester- day and the certificate was is- sued to G. C. McCown, who will be in charge of operations. The construction of the cisterns may be let at contract, and the price will be approximately $5,000. The only other permit issued for the work of repairs and build- ing, which will occasion an ex- penditure of money above $1,000, is for general repairs to building at Duval and Angela streets. Chapin of | Fort Myers, was a visitor in the lcity yesterday and registered at a local hotel. Mr. Chapin led a group of ex- plorers through the mangrove swamps and forests in 1923. Part of the way across the party lost its bearings and wandered around aimlessly in the wild country, which was infested with snakes and replete with myriad bird and wild animal life. Planes were called out and a widespread search that was national news for a time carried on. The party was finally located, set straight as to their course, and the trip completed on the 20th day after the start.
