The evening will be begun with a banquet. A preliminary survey of guests shows that there will be around 115 Rotarians, Rotary Anns, and lady friends present. During the banquet an excellent program will be given. President Charles Taylor will give the address of welcome, and will be responded to by Rotary Ann Mrs. Steve Douglas. William V. Little will be the principal speaker of the evening. On the musical side of the pro- gram, the Casa Marina orchestra | will be heard in two specially se-/ lected arrangements. The entire assembly will sing two songs, one a popular selec- tion, the other a Rotary song. Miss Edith Williams, who pos- sesses one of the sweetest, cleaf- est sopranos in the city, and who } has beén highly praised by many visiting singers, the principal one being Mrs. Betty Peyser, well known New York dramatic so- prano, will be heard in one of the solos. Well known Rotary humor will | be seen in the Beauty Contest to be staged. There will also be club business at the banquet. Immediately following the ban-} quet, dancing in the Patio to the Casa Marina Orchestra. will be enjoyed. Mardi Gras Atmosphere At The benefit ball given Saturday! night at Habana-Madrid ‘for the Community Clinic and’ to secure recreational park equipment was a big success. The international floor show representing songs and dances of various nations was en- thusiastically received by an overflowing gathering. All of the acts were greatly ap- plauded, one of the highlights of the evening being gypsy fantasy representing the country Hun- gary, danced by Mrs. Julio De Poo, assisted by a quartet of beau- tiful gypsy-clad Key West girls, Maria Farto, Barbara Guerra, Lydia Garcia and Mae Henriquez. This dance was originated and taught by Mrs. De Poo, the cos- tumes designed by her also. Serpentine and confetti, flung through the air, lent an air of Mardi Gras, and at intermission, one hundred pairs of Cuban mar- acas with inscriptions on them were distributed among the pa- trons. i Everready Star Club To Hold Party The annual party of the Ever- ready Star Club will be held to- mofrow evening, beginning 7:30 ‘2°... dnternational Ball Saturday ‘The professional entertainers who contributed their talents were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Torano, Cecil Carbonell and Pee Wee. Little Marion Solano and Billy Warner were flag bearers, and be- fore each number was presented they marched down the middle of the floor, each bearing a flag rep- resenting the nation next to be presented, accompanied by that nation’s national anthem. The finale of the program was a spectacle of color and rhythm with the inimitable Juanita danc- ing the typical Cuban rhumba and conga with Pepito. At the close of the program the patrons continued the festivities dancing among the serpentine and confetti which by that time had covered the entire dance floor. Proceeds of the benefit will be announced a$ soon as all of the tickets are accounted for. ee “TRANSPORTATION . e S.S.
