A northern editar MeepWOUsahl to me that. Florida, gawsy of the conventional sort hasizone sour. ‘Too many paid pyblicity.men deve been putting out trite seneeds abouc! bathing beauties and fashionajste crowds at the races.and at night- ;elubs. The real beauty and charm of Florida has been sidetracked for villas and cocktail parties. Fishing is, of course, one of the chief at- tractions, but it, too, has become a rather stale topic. Key “West has not been over- publicised and people want to hear more about her unique charm, jforeign atmosphere and home- making possibilities. One of the best ways of doing this is to send copies of The C ti- zen to friends in the North and West and to contribute short ac- counts of Key West life and at- tractions to other newspapers. Father A. Locke Maureau has been doing it with his litt'e books of poems, which elucidate some- thing of the spirit of Key West and her quiet appeal. The attractively _ illustrated booklets, gotten out by the local Adrimistration have, also, done much to carry the message to re- mote sections, Such persona! invitations to “come and see” will find ready re- sponse, and from the better type of tourists. We are glad to be able to do our bit in this direction by send- ing “pieces” to Northern papers. It seems to us that proof of real interest is to, do something about it. ©. G. FLINT.
