Richard Evans, Pastor Corner Duval and Eaton Streets Sunday Services: MARY’S (COMMUNICATED) The febst will open with ‘the Mass of. the day which will be held: at 7, 8:15: and 10 o'clock to accommodate all the faithful. In the evening at 7:30, a special ser- mon will be given'te,commemerate the feast by the pastor. His sub- ject will be the vital topic of the day—“Our American family life and God’s given Model.” The president is asking the con- gress to give billions to the NRA to save 30 million families of our nation from despair and destitu- tion.’ In his address to the Federal Council of Churches at Washing- ton, he denounced the pagan ethics of today, that have robbed us and left us dying by the way- side not only economically, but also morally. As in Greece and Rome, a social or economic order ruled by pagan ethics always has broken down and always will break down. f “Modern marriage has * lost ’ its sanctity: Holy marriage is, there- fore; insofar, as. it can be called “modern,” is a thing’ of ‘the ' past. Moral, don’t ‘contract a modern itiarriage. It is a travesty, a eati- feature, a mockery of the ‘true ideal. Men and women of Chris- tain faith ought to have nothing to do with rn marriage. Nothing unity—its _indissolubility, riage thus bereft has upset the home. The home is no longer the cradle of our race. It has lost ‘its other fine claims: “It canno Jonger be called the nursery of childhool, the temple of love, the Sanctuary of conjugal fidelity. documents; the automobile; the bad example around them, the daily newspapers, The magazine, novel, the stage ridicule mar- free J - ideal of conjugal fidelity; while 23 speak in a slanderous and seur- rilous manner about the tion of marriage. These feed the seenario writers and the movie magnets with their matter. Our moral decay is fostered by the courts and by the very laws which these courts interpret and execute. Many of the churches are ready to compromise on this vital ques- tion upon which the future of our} nation depends, The schools with » their pagan ethics destroy 1 ideals of marriage in the minds of our hopefuls. -What is to be done? God gives us the remedy—if we are to save our nation, if we wish that our government shall not perish from the earth. Our real strength is fot in the army or navy, but*in the’ ‘homes of our people: Our redemption is not in ithe relief money of ‘the NRA but by Christ in the home. By Him alone ean civilization hope to be preserved ‘and perpetuated. On Him we will . establish a stable economic ‘and social order. The service will close with the Consecration of the families of Key West to the Sacred Heart of our Master which will be follow- ed by the Blessing of Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
