Ladd, tax collector, after completing the check of the books that were handled by Jim Roberts, city tax collector-assses- sor, who was delegated by Mr. Ladd to handle the sale of poll taxes at the city hall. The separation of the two ac- counts show that Mr. Roberts is- sued 881 receipts and the balance of 1,120 were issued from the of- fice of Mr. Ladd. The most re- markable incident in connection with the payment of poll taxes is that approximately 800 were paid in on Wednesday, October 25, the last day on which they could be legally issued. In the issue of The Citizen of Thursday an article relative to the number of voters who would be qualified to participate in the election was estimated at 3,200.
