But it was handled with such natural ability by Victor Jory that it won high praise from audiences everywhere. His success in that part led Fox executives to cast him in a fea- ture role in “Trick for Trick,” a mystery thriller with a back- ground of magic and modern methods of the black art, show- ing tonight gt the Strand Theater. Jory plays the part of La Tour, a@ magician, and partner of Azrah, another magician, played by Ralph Morgan. Others in the cast in- clude Clifford Jones, Sally Blane, Dorothy Appleby, Boothe Howard and William Robertson. Hamilton MacFadden directed. Jory is the suave, sophisticated type of player, and it is expected that his role in “‘Tri¢k ‘for Trick” will place him near the top of Hollywood’s long ladder of suc- cess. He was born in Dawson City, | Alaska, and received his early ed- }ueation in that part of the- frozen North. He had early ambitions to become an actor and made fre- quent excursions from the school Toeom to play roles in steck, his firs part being with a company in Vanconve! =p ooees TODAY'S BIRTHDAYS. eee seeaere ~ Daniel Carter Beard, Boy Scout leader, artist, and naturalist, born pat author in Cinein- i nati, 83 years ago.
