Those Up To Value Of Not More _+Than Five Thousand Dollars (My Asnveinted Preas) TALLAHASSEE, May 9. —The house today ap- proved 82 to 8 a proposed constitutional amendment to exempt homiesteads up to value of $5,000 from taxa- tion. Should the senate approve the measure it will be sub- mitted to the general elec- tion in November next year. Repeated efforts were made to kill the measure and lower its exemption figure. The senate failed for lack of a required three-fifths vote to the resolu- tion desighed to submit to the people a proposed con- stitutional amendment to abolish all ad valorem taxes for state purposes, ; sidered another proposed authorize legislature to levy @ state income tax.
