PAGE FOUR “TARIE - CAPPICK, Ed SOCIETY itor ---- PHONE 436 Interesting Meeting Of Woman’s Club Yesterday Miss Minnie Porter Harris, first ident of the Key West Club presided in a most gracious and pleasing manner at} a meeting of this club yesterday. Mrs. William R, Warren, president, who is ill, was unable to be pres- ent, and her duties developed upon Miss Harris, who, in a short ad- dress to the club, asked the coop- eration of all members in carry-| ing on the work of this club dur- ing the absence of Mrs. Warren. Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved, and were followed by a ten minutes talk on parlimentary law by Miss Mollie Parker, club parliamentarian. The minutes were ordered amended to include a copy of a beautiful poem by Mrs. Andrew R. Miller, “Be- cause I Have a Daughter,” which has been so widely read and fav- orably commented on since it ap- peared in a copy of “The Club- woman.” Mrs, Miller expressed thanks for the appreciation shown, Message Read A message from the club presi- dent, Mrs. Warren, was read by Mrs. Miller, this brought an ex- pression of affection from the club president, and it was moved and seconded that a reply be sent Mrs. Warren thanking her for her fond affection to each and every club woman, and wishing her a speedy recovery. Letters were read from Mrs. Meade A. Love, president of the calling for this meat may have it free of cost. Announce Card Party Miss Harris, chairman, announc- ed that the Catholic women would hold a card party in the club house on Tuesday evening, December 13, and on the following evening the senior class of the high school would sponsor a similar enter- tainment. Team cards with the names of club women were shown as the work of Mrs. Wesley Archer and were beautiful’ examples of this art. The club has been divided into teams, each with a captain. The team showing the highest average attendance during the club year will be banqueted by the club at the close of the club year. Under the direction of Mrs. James Adams, a program was giv- en. One number was the demon- stration of the work of her de- partment which was carried out by a number of children in rags and patches who entered to music played by Mrs. Frank Ladd, Viv- ian Lombard gave a poem and car- ried a bottle of milk. ‘The chil- dren returned a second time cloth- ed in new garments, thus demon- strating the way the public wel- fare department cares for chil- dren. Musical selections were “Amer- ica the Beautiful,” by club women with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Frank Ladd. Another club selection was “Florida, My Flor- Florida Federation; Mrs. R. M. Shearer, vice-president at large; Mrs. I. A. Bennett, president of section eleven; Mrs. Anna Schu- macker, chairman of the finance committee, who visited Key West woman’s Club Nov. 19, and who enjoyed their visit. Reports from various chairmen of departments and committees were read: Mrs, Jerry Trevor re- ported on the club’s finances; Mrs, Norberg Thompson on the library; Mrs, “Goshorn, on _ educational work; Mrs, William H. White, chairman Fine Arts department, announced that during the coming week, Mr. Carbonell would admit persons to his theater who brought at least ten cents worth of food. Mrs. Adams gave a_ reading, “Annie and Willie’s Prayer.” This was a most touching Christmas poem, and one that went to the heart of every woman present.
