ESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 1932. FLORDA'S CREW FOR SECOND CONTEST TERMINATES BY CLOSE SCORE OF 4 TO 3; GAME HARD-FOUGHT; GIL- LENTINE IN FINE SHAPE 8. Florida’ was again vic~ torious in last night’s diamondball game when they defeated the All-| Stars in a close, hard fought and thrilling game. The score was 4 to 3. In the ninth inning the All- Stars were leading by one run and with Gillentine pitching: invineibl ball it appeared te be all over but the shouting. But those fighting Floridians had other thoughts: in’ their head. After Armando: Ace+|: vedo had hit safely, they changed their tactics and commenced the offensive with bunts. Machin bunted to Gillentine, who fumbled the ball, and Machin was safe, Lounders walked. Acosta struck out. Cdtes then bunted safely: and Acevedo came in with the tie ing run. Brady struck out; and on Ingraham’s uselessly « hard throw to the piteher, who~ had* his hand injured previously, the ball rolled away and Machin raced ‘in with the winning run. Gillentine gave the finest: exhi- bition of diamondball! pitching ever seen in Key West. He has. ter- Tifie speed and fine control, and a” those hard hitting: Flor- sawed the air was a cau- tion, Manager Cole and Captain Brady are to be commended: for ‘their sportsmanship in. permitting Gillentine to pitet without being coerced. They did it to let the Spectators who are making the game possible a chance to see a pitcher im aetion. Under cireumstances their victory the sweeter. And as far as All-Stars are iti was “as well that they. lost, for “Bome of the most rabid fans would always have taunted them with the ogre that it was a Miami player ‘who gave them victory. ‘So everybody is satisfied. The Floridm who have won, the fans who ‘were privileged to see a great 2 + Hernandez; Gillen- and Ingraham; A. Lunn and Acevedo. TEAMS’ STANDING W. L.
