THE KEY WEST CITIZEN } } In Big Picture In sereening “Hell-Bent Fer Heaven,” the J. Stuart Blackton production for Warner Bros. a dam was blown up, and John Har- ron had a narrow escape with his life. Harron, as Sid Hunt, the Am- erican soldier, was inside a shack telephoning, when the dam burst. The frame building tore loose from its foundations as the mountains torrent, released from ‘bondage, surged, through the break. Harron ‘was flung from side to side in his effort to reach the window through which he sought to make his escape. The force of the water on the outside prevented him from rais- ing the sash. It seemed that he was trapped. Then he caught up a stick and finally managed to break the glass, only to find the aperture blocked by a mass of water which poured in through the opening. Fighting the fury of the mad- dened torrent, he forced his way through the narrow frame into the icy stream, where he was caught in the flood and washed some distance before he could gain control of his swimming and make for shore. it was a very wet and a. very cold boy who scrambled up on the bank to receive the commenda- tion of Commodore Blackton. Then the question was, how to get warm, for Johnny does not like coffee and he won’t touch: boot- leg. Wrapped in blankets, sitting in the warm sun, he smilingly said through chattering teeth: “—I—I’m glad we ar—rent’s ‘Hell-Ben—t — Fer—H—eaven’ any—any m—more!” -“Hell-Bent Fer Heaven” is com- ing to the Monroe Theatre today with Patsy Ruth Miller in the starring role of Jude Lowry.
