PROOPS ASSEMBLE AT CAMP} JOHNSTON ON AN- NUAL EVENT - " (ity Amnociated Prenn) LAKE CITY, Fla, July 28.— Among the troops at Camp John- Sten, where the annual encamp- ment of the Florida National Guard is in progress, is company H, of Columbia county, one of the oldest units of the state. Company H. which is under} command of Captain E. A. Wright, First Lievteriant R. B. Harkness, dr., was organized at the begin- ming of the war between the states, under command of Captain J. M. Scheffield, father of J.C. Schef- field, president of the First Na- tional Bank. ‘The troops were then known as the Lake City Home Guard and rendered active service at the bat- tie of Olustee, near Lake City. . Later the unit was designated 2s the Columbia County Rivals, and was disbanded in 1908. At the beginning of the World War, the company was reorganized by the federal authorities early in 1917, and was disbanded at the. end of the European conflict.
