= a = SATURDAY, JULY 17, 1926. elaney W DEFEATS BERLENBACH THE: KRY WEST CITIZEN ns Light WN BOUT LAST NIGHT EXHIBITION oN T AKES PLACE AT BROOK- LYN. NATIONAL LEA-, Pra GUE PARK 7 (By Associates, Press) NEW. YORK,. July 17.—The world’s light heavyweight ring erown, jolted from championship heads five times in the last six years, found a new resting place today atop the handsome counten- | anee of Jack Delaney of Bridge- port, Conn., whose real name is| Capdelaine Ovila. The sensatonal victory over Paul Berlenbach by a unanimous decision of the judges brought the . crown to Delaney before a capacity crowd which paid $420,000 to see rivals of two years grapple. A stirring rally in the last part of the fifteen-round battle gave Delaney the crown, who seeming- ly exhausted by the tremendous punches of the champion, sudden- ly came to life, and in one of the most sensational comebacks in modern fistics, knocked the crown from Berlenbach’s head with a two-fisted attack which tired Ber- lenbach, and caught him wholly un for the onslaught. eeeeeeere .
