PAGE EIGHT CLINIC OPENS THURSDAY AT HIGH SCHOOL DR. F. L. FORT OF STATE DE- PARTMENT OF HEALTH DUE TO ARRIVE HERE TO- MORROW Dr. F. L. Fort, orthopedic sur- geon of the State Department of Health, will arrive in Key West on the early morning train, Thursday, May 27, and will begin the examination of the crippled children at 10 o’clock a. m. until 11:80, beginning again at 2 0’clock in the afternoon. The clinie will be held at the Monroe county high school build- ing and will continue throughout the day, or until every child has received a thorough examination and the parents advised of diag- nosis and treatment necessary. Parents are requested to have the children at the high school build- ing om White «treet promptly at 2 p.m. The morning hours will be devoted to the children who are attending school. The school nurses, Misses Alice and Agnes Evans, will be directly in charge of the with Mrs. Catala as interpreter and Miss Curry acting as stenographer. A complete history of every case will be taken, together with recom- mendations for treatment. oes Dr. Fort will be the guest of Frank Ladd at the Rotary lunch- eon, and will address the Rotar- jans on the value of the boy, and especially the efforts being put forth in the conservation of child- hood. You who are Shriners know more of what is being done for our crippled children than any one else. The great work is just be- ginning, but thousands of children have been treated, and “the light that was never on land or sea” has been made to shine on the eyes of many a boy and girl when first they realized they were not to lead sad and broken lives, but to be healthful, normal creatures as their Creator intended. God plants ability in unexpected places, and in helping these child- ren to lives of usefulness you may be remaking the world. We can not set a price on the life of a little child, for behind that child- ish face may lie dormant the genius of a Galico or the character of a Woodrow Wilson. If we can save to the world just one such life the service is well worth many times the money that might be spent for hospitalization and treat- ment. A wonderful opportunity is this for real service—a lasting and constructive service that will carry on throughout the ages. And in this service to little children the Shrine Hospitals are leading and lighting the way. GAME BIRDS NOW RAISED Members of the Holly Island club, near Wachapreague, Va., are rearing game birds with consid- erable success, Expert game keepers ure in charge of the work on an island several miles out in the ocean. It is proposed to re- lease ‘these birds on the island, which is ten miles long, and even- tually to build up a good hunting preserve.
