ANDERSON, ALIAS WALDON (Continued from Page 1) | | time been making every possible! effort to have Anderson, alias, Waldon, apprehended, and hun-| dreds of telegrams have been) passed in the long drawn out ef-| fort. So wires were immediately | sent to city and county authori-| ties at Los Angeles, only to learn that the man left the city. | The trail got hot yesterday,! however, when the bank here re-| eived a telegram from San Diego, | California, desiring to know if three checks for $350, $250 and | $100 respectively, signed by} Symonette and certified by Kemp were good. Telegrams were im-| mediately flashed to San’ Diego urging the arrest of the man and hold for officers here on charge! of cashing worthless checks and! forgery. The same telegram was | also sent to Los Angeles. It seems that the check artist took cold feet when his checks were hold for in- quiry at San Diego and proceeded to beat it back to Los Angeles, for Mr. McInnis received a tele-| gram this morning stating that he had been arrested in Los Angeles | and was being held for the sheriff | at Houston, Texas. In the telegrams received from | the Pacific coast it is indicated that Anderson, alias Waldon, is wanted elsewhere on charges en- tirely different to that of forgery and cashing worthless checks, but the nature of the charges is not made known. Just. how serious the charge against him at Hous- ton may be has not been learned here, but Mr. McInnis is using the wires today in an effort to get the Los Angeles police hold him for this county instead of Houston. C. C. Symonette this morning stated that Anderson was one of the smoothest fellows he ever saw —looked just like a preacher. He worked with Cates and Symonette about two months on the basis of splitting all commissions three ways, he to take over the clerical work. It was in this capacity that he learned to duplicate Mr. Symonette’s signature. Mr. Sym- onette says he forged three checks before leaving here, the first one being for $20, then $100 and next $300, One came from other places mentioned. His for- geries through the use of Mr. Symonette’s signature amounted) to more than $1,800 before he commenced to use the “certified” rubber stamp. Neither Mr. Symonette nor the First National Bank sustained any real loss as a result of the for-} geries, but Mr. Symonette’s bank | acecunt was kept confused some! time by the arrival of checks} bearing such genuine looking signature. | Further developments in matter are eagerly awaited in this/ city. ix a preseription for Malaria, Chills and Fever, Dengue or Bilious Fever.
