The Boy Scouts helped to conquer the mos- quito in Memphis—and they would gladly do so in Key West, if given an opportunity. All other suggestions having been ignored, how would it do to tar and feather the mosquitoes and give them twenty-four hours to get out of MOTHER’S DAY the human heart is emphasized on the second Sunday in May, when the American people many thankful and appreciative thoughts their mothers. It is not until people get pretty well along in life that they realize all that their mothers have done for them. One of the most sacred sentiments of give to The devotion and loyalty which women mani- | fest to their children is something superb, and one can never despair of the future of our country while this strong and noble and compelling inter- est 'is making itself felt on the younger genera- tion. It will hold them true in spite of many perils. Mother’s Day will be generally and suitably | observed in Key West tomorrow with apprdpriate programs rendered in most of the churches in the city, and ministers will choose subjects bearing on the sacredness of Mother's Day. THE ADVICE OF THE MOTHERS One of the things most needed at the present time, is that the children and young people of this age should be a little more willing to take the ad- vice their mothers give them. Many of seem to think that their mothers are behind the times, and do not understand present conditions, and therefore they can not know what their chil- dren ought to do in the various circumstances that come up. them These young people will come out a great deal better if they take the advice of their mothers, which will be prompted not merely ‘by maternal affection and devotion, but by experience of the world and an intense interest in the future wel- fare of their children. FRIENDLY ADVERTISING Illustrating the present trend of good will ad vertising, a plan recently adopted by a railroad in the South is interesting. Recognizing the important function of the local station agent, through whom most patrons of the road have their only contact with the man- agement and its policies, the new advertising seeks to bring the agent in closer touch with’ his com- munity.
