N. and Walter Jackson, of Du- Juth, are here on a visit to the family of their sister, Mrs. Mary McMahon. Miss Charlotte Gardner, who has been visiting her aunt, Mrs. Kath- erine Murchie, leaves for her home at Morse, Sask., today. Mrs. C. C. McCarthy was hostess to about fifty ladies at a social given in honor of Mrs. Norton and Miss Earhart, her guests from from Duluth, on Saturday after noon. Mrs. E. J. Windsor received word this week that her father was very ill at the family home in the |} southern part of the state and left at once to be present at his bed | side. She isy accompanied by her daughter, Miss Frances Mrs. A. A. Campbell left this morning for a visit with her par- ents at Duluth. Mr. Campbell will join her there Saturday and will attend tha banquet given by the Knights of Columbus at the Spald- ing hotel Sunday evening. The line crew of the municipal electric light plant have been busy thig week changing the power from a single phase to a three phase system. This will give the plant much additional power. A party of young people went to Swan River on Sunday afternoon last and spent the evening, until train time having a jolly time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Curdo. Those in the party were: Misses Rosemary Logan, Buelah Claus, Marie Aiken, Ruth Beckfelt; Messrs. Ed Erskine, Tom Erskine and Art Peterson. Elmer E. Bliss, who has been residing at Blackberry for some time, has started out as a traveling photographer, and will make the country districts in pursuit of his ulling. David Kribs, Wayne Gilbert and Ed Farrell attended the Minne- ‘sota-Chicago| foot ball game at Minneapolis last Saturday. While away they also visited Carlton col- lege, Northfield. where several young men from here are putting in the term. They found them all doing nicely and well pleased with their surroundings. November 11th, 1913, Pursuant to adjournment the Board of County Commissioners of Itasca county, Minnesota, met at the court house in the Village of Grand Rapids, Minn,,’this llth day of November, 1913, at 10 o'clock a, m. All members ofthe Board present. Commissioner O’Brien mayed that the assisyant staté engineer be instructed to survey and prepare plans and speci- fications for County road No. 68, in the town of Lake Jessie. The motion was seconded by Commis- ‘sioner Passard and carried by unani- mous vote, Commissioner Passard moved that the ‘engineer be instructed to survey and prepare plans and specifications for & highway beginning at the NB corner of Section 26, Township 147, Range 25; thence west one-half mile; thence south one-half mile; thence west one-half mile; thence south to town line. The motion was seconded by Com- missioner O’Brien and carried by unani- mous vote. ‘Commissioner Passard moved thet the engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifications for the construction ‘of a bridge across Swan river in the Village of Warba, on the Duluth and St. Vincent State road. The application of Alice P. Hemmens, ‘et. al., for refund of over payment on ‘account of Torrens fee paid to the county was presented to the board, ‘Commissioner O’Brien moved that the county auditor be instructed to draw a warrant upon the assurance fund for the amount of such refund. The motion was seconded by Com- missioner Nelson and carried by unani- si0us vote. The bill of Willjam Smith for a part payment upon the Alvwood road in the sum of $500, which claim was assigned to the Cohasset State bank, was al- lowed by the following vote, upon motion of Commissioner O’Brien, sec- onded by Commissioner, Passard; Yeas: Commissioners O’Brien, Passard and King; nay: Commissioner Nelson. A request was made for the renewal of the mortgage loan made to Grace K. Fraser upon the 20th day of October, 1909, in the sum of $1500.00, secured by a mortgage upon lot 5, section 14, town- ship 55, range 25, which loan became die and payable on October 20th, 1913, Commissioner O’Brien moved that a renewal be granted and that said loan, be extended for a period of three years from the said 20th day of October, 1913. The motion was seconded by Com. missioner Nelson and carried by unani- mous vote of all members present, Communications from Jes. Rahier and J. C. Bertholomew, in regard to work done upon County road No, 28 for Ross Noble, were presented, Commissioner O’Brien moved that a committee be appointed to examine said road, and the work done by said parties. The motion was seconded by Commis. sioner Passard and carried by unanimous vote. Commissioners O'brien, Nelson and Passard were appointed as such committee. Commissioner Passard moved that @ committee be appointed to examine the Moose Lake road to Deering’s place in township 57, range 26. ! Commisstoner Passard moved that a committee be appointed to examine the work done by Jasper M. Pogue upon Gounay Road No, 102, also the work done Hy John Shea & Co, upon State Road No, 5. Commissioners Passard, Nelson fand O’Brien were appointed as such committee, The county auditor was instructed to advertise for bids for the construction of Road No, 133, according to plans and specifications on file in the office of the county auditor. ‘Commissioner Nelson moved that @ committee be appointed to examine County Road No. 86, that said commit. tee be authorized to direct the necessary improvements upon said road in an amount not exceeding $500.
