Pursuant to adjournment the Board of County Commissioners of Itasca County, Minnesota, met at the Court House mn the Village of Grand Rapids this first day of October, 1912. Members present: Commissioners King, Nelson, O’Brien and Mullins. Upon motion of Commissioner O’Brien seconded by Commissioner Mullins, Road and Bridge committees were appointed as follows: The whole board to examine the work one under the George Arscott contract won, County Road No, 47. Commissioners Nelson, King and Mul- lins to examine the work done under the Mitchell and Co. contract upon the Good Hope and Third River road; also for the work done by Martin Torkelson up- on the Grattan road; also the work done by Carl Magnuson upon the Orth road; also to,examine the work done under the Wm. Smith contract upon the Alv- wood road; also to examine the work done under the supervision of the Town Board of the Town of Ardenhurst up- on the Road leading to the Island Lake Lumber Company’s mill under the appr¢4 priation made by the County board. Commissioners Nelson, O’Brien and Mullins to examine the work done un- der the Wm. Smith contract upon Coun- ity’ Road No. 112. Commissioners Shellman, O’Brien, Nel- son to examine the work done under the P. S, Kinney contract 2pen the Lyford road. . The following report of the District Engineer in the matter of the estimate fer the construction of the Duluth & St. Vincent State Rural Highway was presented to the board for approval. Commissioner O’Brien moved that the bid of James Dowling for the con- struction of County Road No. $3 be ac- cepted, and that he be awarded the contract for constructing said road in ac- cordance with his bid and offer. The mo tion was seconded by Commissioner Mul~ ling and upon roll call was carried, the vote being as follows: Yea—Commissioners O’Brien, and Nelson. Nay—Commissioner King. Commissioner Mullins moved that the chairman appoint a committee of three to sell the job for the construction of one-half mile of road in the town of Wa- wina beginning at the SE corner of Sec- tion 15 and running to the South Quarter post of Section 15, Township 53, Range 2, the amount to be expended) not to exceed $400. The motion was sec- onded by Commissioner Nelson and car- ried by unanimous vote. Commissionerg Nelson, Mullins and O’Brien were ap- pointed as such committee. Said com- mittee to meet at Wawina on the 14th day of October. A petition was presented requesting the Board to instruct the State Public examiner to make an examination of the books and accounts of the Town Treasurer of the Town of Feeley. Com- missioner O’Brien moved the adoption of the following resolution: Resolved that the State Public exam- iner be and he is hereby requested by the Board of County Commissioners of Itasca county, Minnesota, to make an ex- amination of the books and accounts of the town treasurer of the Town of Feel- ey. The motion was seconded by Com- missioner Nelson and carried by unani- maus vote, Commissioner Mullins moved the adop- tion of the following resolution: Resolved that the sum of $300 be and the same is hereby appropriated from the County Road and Bridge fund to the Town of Blackberry to aid said town in the construction of a road lead- ing to the new Mississippi River bridge in said town. The motion was second- | ed by Commissioner O’Brien and car- | ried by unanimous yote. A communication was. received from the superintendent of state sanitarium in regard to the purchase of certain ar~ ticles of wearing apparel for Henry Kantola, an Itasca County patient, at said institution and was read. Commis- sioner Nelson moved that the Super- intendent of the State Sanitarium be instructed to purchase said clothing, the amount not to exceed $25. Commissioner O’Brien moved that bids for road and bridge work be accepted and contracts be awarded as follows: Hennepin Bridge Company’s bid No. 2 for the construction of a bridge across the Bigfork River on County Road No. 28. Mullins C. H. Johnson for the construction of ® road between Township 53, Range 24 and township 54, Rang.e P. S. Kinney for the construction of the Smoky Hollow road. William Smith for the construction of @ road beginning at the NE corner of Section 28, Township 62, Range 26 and. running east to the Kinney Trail. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Mullins and carried by the following &te: Yea—Commissioners King, O’Brien and Mullins. Nay-—Commissioner Nelson. Commissioner Mullins moved the adop- tion of the following resolution: Resolved that the sum of $460 be and the same is hereby appropriated from the County Revenue fund to the Itasca County Agricultural association fq A. A. Mitchell & Co., payment on the purpose of defraying the expenses of the School and Agricultural exhibit at| the State fair; and that the County Auditor be authorized and instructed to issue a warrant in favor of the secer- tary of said association and for the amount of said appropriation. The motion was seconded by Com- missioner Nelson and carried by unani- mous vote. Upon motion of Commissioner Nelson seconded by Commissioner O’Brien the plat of the survey of Section 36, Town- ship 55, Range 25 was approved by unanimous vote. Commissioner Mullins moved that the county auditor be instructed to adver- tise for bids for gravelling road begin- ning at the LaPrairie School house and running North to the Trout Lake road, according to specifications to be pre- pared by the county surveyor. The mo- tion was seconded by Commissioner O’Brien and carried by unanimous vote. Commissioner O’Brien moved that the sum of $300 be appropriated from the County Road and Bridge fund to be ex- pended under the direction of Commis- sioner King upon the approaches to the bridges across the Bigfork river in the town of Sand Lake. Members present: Commissioners Nel- son, O’Brien and King. A communication from D. T. Collins, attorney of Hibbing, in regard to judicial road was read. A’ petition was presented for an ap- Propriation of $50 to be expended in the j constructing and completing of a bridge on the Old Sucker Brook road in Town- ship 57, Range 24, Commissioner Nel- son moved that the sum of $50 be ap- Propriated to be expended under his di- rection in the constructing of said bridge. The motion was seconded by Commissioner O’Brien and carried by unanimous vote. Commissioners Mullins and King were appointed a committee to investigate the matter of the right of way across. the road of Carrie McDonald at Swan River. Commissioner Nelson moved that the state engineer be requested to make a complete survey for the Duluth-St. Vin- cent and Deer River and Northome State Rural highway to be constructed under the provisions of the Elwell law. The motion was seconded by Commis- sioner O’Brien and carried by unani- mous: vote. Commissioner O’Brien moved that the sum of $350 be appropriated from the County Revenue fund to the Incident- al fund. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Nelson and carried by un- anifmous vote. The bonds of the First State Bank of Keewatin, as a county depository, in the aggregated sum of $5,000 with the National Surety Co., of New York and American Bonding Co. of Baltimore as sureties were approved subject to the approval by the County Attorney as to form and execution by unanimous vote & Ed upon the motion by Commissioner O’Brien, seconded by Commissioner Nel- Son. A petition was presented for the es- tablishment of a highway beginning at the NE corner of Section 26, Township 147, Range 25, Itasca county, Minn., and running thence west about one-half mile to the NW corner of the NE 1-4 of said Section 26; thence south to the center of said section, thence west to the NW corner of the SW 1-4 of said Section 26; thence south to the SW corner of said Section 26; thence west to the NW corner of the NW 1-4 of Sec4 tion 34 in said township; thence south on and along the quarter line to the SW corner of the SE 1-4 of Section)! 34 in Township 147, Range 25. Upon motion of Commissioner O’Brien, seconded by Commissioner Nelson, the minutes of the meetings of August 20 and September 10 were approved by unanimous vote. Pursuant to the provisions of Sec- tions 936, 937 and 938 of Revised Laws of 1905, as amended by Chapter 430, General Laws 1907, and Chapter 30, Gen- eral Laws, 1911, notice is hereby given that on Monday the 11th day of November 1912, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon, at the office of the County Auditor in the County Court House at Grand Rapids, im Itasca county, Minnesota, all tracts or Parcels of land situated in Itasca coun- ty, bid in for the state, and not as- | signed to purchasers or redeemed with- jin three years from the date of the tax sale at which said parcels were of- fered and so bid in by the State, will be offered at public sale, and will be sold to the highest bidder therefor. The current taxes shall be included in all sum than the aggregate taxes, penalties, cases. No parcel will be sold for a less interest and costs charged against it, unless the ‘cash value thereof fairly de- termined by the county board and ap- proved by the Minnesota Tax Commis- sion, shall be less than such aggregate provided, however, that all parcels bid in for the State, for the taxes of 1905, or prior years, and not assigned to pur- chasers, or redeemed as aforesaid, may be disposed of for one-half of the total taxes as originally assessed. Purchasers shall forthwith pay the amount of their respective bids to the county treasurer. Said sale will begin at the time and Place named above and will continue from day to day until every such tract or parcell shall have been offered for sale, under the provisions of said Statutes. The list of said real property, Subject to said sale, and which will be so offered for sale, unless previously redeemed, is now on file in the of- fice of said County Auditor, and of the State Auditor of said State.
