Pursuant to adjournment the Vil- Jage Council of the Village fo Grand Rapids, itaeca Couaty, Minnesota, wes held at the Council Chambers in the village hal) in said Village this 22nd day of March, 1912, at 8 p m. Members present: President Rid- @ell, Trustees Arscott, King and Rus- ell and Recorder Sherman. The minutes of the two previous meetings were read. Trustee Arscott wtated that the minutes of the last meeting should include the policy of economy as outlined by him at @aid meeting, futher claiming that aid outline had been included in hs motion as a part of the same; after «considerable discussion the minutes were amended to include said policy @s outlined as follows: To dispense with the services of one police offi- cer at a saving of $900.00 per year; to dispense with the service of a vil- dage attorney at a saving of $400.00 per year; to pay no salary for village, health officer, at a saving of $120.00 peor annum; to reduce the salaries of village recorder and treasurer to $300.00 per year at a saving of $250.0 er year; to expend an amount of mot over $2,500.00 for the coming year on the village streets; that the three village trustess donate the 4 @ervicecs to the village and serve without pay the coming year. The minutes were then apploved as amended. Applications for police were de- elared the order of business by Presi- dent Riddell. Applications were re- ceived trom J. F. McCormick, Thos. Trainor, Frank McKeown and G, O. Johnson. Upon a vote being taken G. O. Johnson received three votes, J. F. McCormick received two votes. G. O. Johnson was thereupon de Jage marshal. The next order of business was the) appointment of a street commissioner. Thomas Benton being the only appli- cant for said pcsilion, upon motion by King, seconded by Trustee Arscott, Thomas Benton was ap- pointed as street commissioner for the coming year. Applications were received by the First State Bank and from the First National Bank for depository of the willage funds; upon motion by Trus- ttee Arscott, seconded py Trustee Russell, the First State Bank was mamed as the eole depository of the village funds for hte comgin year Motion carried. ; Motion was made by Trustee Ar- @oott and seconded by Trustee King that the salary of the police officer be placed at $75.00 per month.
