A recommendation was also brought before the board Monday evening to open, for short terms, the Moose Park, Spruce Park, Third River and Clinite schools which were not open- ed the first of the year owing to the small attendance last year. It was thought best to move the Thorofare school to the west ead of Bass Brook as it will then accommo- date a rapidly growing farming com- munity in that town. The last places they visited were the towns of Bearville and Car- penter. In the town of Carpenter they found nearly one hundred children of schoo] age, and that, too, without a single village in the town. The whole trip was one of many surprises. The farming sections of Itasca county are developing very rapdily as is shown in the recommendations that they} bring with them on their return. In keeping with the purpose of the board to educate every child of schoc age in the district, they found it ne- cessary to establish 9 new schools. The schools that they recommend to be established are as follows: At Mrs. Martin’s home between Round and Squaw lakes, nineteen children limited basis.
