The reports of the Village Treasurer and Superintendent of power plant were read and ordered filed. A petition from six citizens of La. Prairie, praying this commission to fa- vorably consider the proposition, to fur- nish them with such electric current, as may be necessary to light their homes, barns and other buildings and power to operate farm machinery, they to furnish the poles and other materiat as may be necessary to construct such proposed electric line to LaPrairie. The matter was discussed at some length table, to be taken up at our next meet- ing. Upon motion duly made and carried the Superintendent was instructed to take immediate steps to procure a small boiler, to be used in thawing hy- drants, and to have said hydrants test- ed every two weeks during the winter months. OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TASCA COUNTY, MINN Grand Rapids, Minn., April 15, 1911. Pursuant to adjournment the Board of County Commissioners of Itasca Coun ty, Minnesota, met at the Court House in the Village of Grand Rapids this 15th day of April, 1911. All members of the Board present. A number of the citizens of the Town of Oteneagen came before the Board with reference to the opening of certain highways in said Town. Commissioner King moved that the chairman appoint a committee to ex- amine said roads and ascertain the ne- cessity of opening and constructing the same. The motion was seconded by Commis- sioner Nelson and carried by unanimous vote. Commissioners King, Nelson and O’Brien were appointed as such com- mittee. The contract and bond of C. R. Mc- Lean for the construction of the re- taining wall upon the courthouse block was presented to the Board for approv- al, the same having been approved as to form and execution by the County attorney. Commissioner King moved that said bond be approved by the Board. The motion was seconded by Commis- sioner O’Brien and carried by unanimous, vote. The members of the Board as a whole were appointed a committee to examine the road in Township 62 Range 25. The various applications for grass seed which were referred back to the Board by the Dean of the Department of Agri- culture of the State University for prop- er certification were then examined and amount to be allowed upon each of said applications, also the total amount to be applied for by the County was deter- mined and the County Auditor instruct- ed to forward the necessary certificates. A petition was presented for a sur- vey of section 19, Township 56, Range 26. Commissioner O’Brien moved that a hearing be had upon said petition at the Courthouse in the Village of Grand Rapids on Thursday the 8th day of June 1911, at 10 o'clock a. m. The motion was seconded by Commis. sioner King and carried by unanimous vote. The Village Council of the Village of Grand Rapids met in session at the Council Chambers, in the Village Hall, Friday, April 14th, at 8 o’clock p. m. Members Present—President Bossard, Trustees Arscott, King and Russell and Recorder Sherman. The minutes of last meeting read and approvd. A petition from the residents on Clough Avenue was taken up. A motion was made by Trustee Ars- cott, seconded by Trustee King, that said petition be referred to the commit- tee on Streets and Alleys, which motion prevailed. President Bossard appointed the fol- lowing committees: Purchasing Committee—Arscott and Sherman. Streets, Alleys and Sewerage—Arscott and Russell, Police and Licenses-—Russell and King. Electric Lights and Water—King and scott. Trustee King informed the council that Mr. Dan McGuire desired to withdraw his application for liquor License. Pursuant to adjournment the Village Council of the Village of Grand Rapids, Minn., met in session at the Council Chambers in the Village Hall, in the Village of Grand Rapids, on Monday, April 17th, 1911, at 8 o’clock p. m. Present—President Bossard, Trustees Arcott, King and Russell, and Recorder Sherman. The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Trustee Arscott, on behalf of the com- mittee on streets, alleys and sewerage, reportd as to the estimated cost of con- necting culverts under the Great North- ern Railway right of way and Third Street on Sleeper avenue, and reported that the cost of making said connections would not exceed $275.00. Upon motion of Trustee King, second- ed by Recorder Sherman, and carried, the committee on streets, alleys and sewerage was instructed to advertise for bids for the construction of the culvert to connect the Third Street culvert and the culvert under the right of way of the Great Northern Railway, the date for hearing of said bids being fixed for | May 5th, 1911, at 8 o'clock p. m., at the Council Chambers in the village hall. Trustee Russell on behalf of the Com. mittee on Streets, Alleys and Sewerage, reported in regard to the estimated cost of opening up two blocks on Clough Av- enue, between 4th and 6th streets, re- porting that it would require an ex- penditure of $100.00. Upon motion of Trustee King, second- ed by Truste Arscott, and carried, it was resolved that Clough Avenue be- tween 4th and 6th streets be brushed cut and be put in a passable condition by the Street Commissioner, the com- mittee on Streets, Alleys and Sewerage to have supervision of said work. Mr. Fish appeared before the council and made request that the street abutt- ing his property in Third Division, be made in a passable condition.
