Morrison, of Minneapolis, was a business visitor in the village the first of the week. The Methodist Ladies’ Aid society will meet with Mrs. H. J. Jones. All are'invited to attend. Our four popular school teachers enjoyed a delightful walk to Grand Rapids Saturday Morning. Mr. atid Mrs. C. M. Erskine ,of Grand Rapids, drove up Sunday to visit, friends in the village. Homer Wright is temporarily acting as assistant postmaster dur- ing the absence of Wm. Wolf. Mrs. Chas. Jones went up up on the Vermilion Tuesday morn- ing on a duck hunt. The Catholic Ladies Altar society of St, Augustine’s church will meet with Mrs. John Herman Thursday afternoon at the usual hour. Mrs. Nedeau and sister returned from Minneapolis Monday where they have been visiting relatives ‘and friends for the past month. Linesmen Shortman and Botts of Grand Rapids, were in ‘the village Tuesday and installed a ‘phone in the Itasca Clothing Co.’s store. Wim. Smith now has his pool and billiard hall open for business. It is a neat and clean place and will undoubtedly enjoy a good “business. Mr. and Mrs. M. Schsrmerhorn came up from Park Rapids Friday to remove Marrin amd Tena Scher- merhorn ,who are ill with typhoid fever. T. A. He has already worked up a good patronage with his side line andthe boys are all pleased with the innovation. Somebody is going to buy when returns are received from Minneap- olis. Messre Bailey and Carter have had considerable argument over whether a certain street in Minne- apolis has a car line and the other evening the argument grew so ex- citing they posted a bet of $10 each aiid) have left the matter to be decided by the sporting editor of the Minneapolis Tribune. Cohasset narrowly missed having a conflagration last Tuesday even- img. It seems a bag of bowling alley palls and a tussack were lying in the corner of Wm. Carter’s saloon and somedne évidently accidently yet the guilty parties have not been discovered. McAlpine’s Fixtures Are Here. The fixtures for the Bodega buffet; which will occupy the corner store room of the McAlpine block, have arrived and as soon as the inside decorating is finished they will be put in place. The fixtures are of quarter sawed oak with bevelled mirrors and the buffet will be ‘one of the most resplendent and finely furnished in the northern part of the state. Tag Day Sale. The tag day sale, which was held by St. Joseph’s society Stptember 23, netted the society the sum of $102. All who were approached responded very liberally and the ladies wish tc thank those who assisted in making the sale a success.
