OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Itasca County, Minnesota. Grand Rapids Minn., July 30 ,1910. . Pursuant to adjournment the board af county commissioners of Itasca county met at the court house in the village of Grand Rapids this 30th da ot July, 1910, at ten Members present: Commissioners McWilliams, Mullins and O’Brien. The minutes of the meetings of July 11th and July 22nd were read and upon motion of Commissioner Mullins secanded by Commissioner O’Briem were approved. 7 A communication from Francis R. Shunk, Major, Corps of Engineers of the U. S. War Department, relative to the removal of logs from the chan- nel on the east side of the draw bridge across the Mississippi River above Cohasset, was presented and read, and the County Auditor was instructed to notify the Itasca Lum- ber Company to remove said logs. A petition signed by the residents of township 62, range 25, for road and bridge appropriation was presented. Commissioner Mul- lins moved that the Chairman ap- point a committee of two of the members of the board to examine and direct the necessary repaairs upon roads in said township. The motion was seconded by Commission- er O’Brien and carried by unanimous Chairman.McWilliams then appoint- ed Commissioners O’Brien and Mullins as such committee. A petition was presented for the organigation of township 144,range 25, that part of Township 145, Range 25 not included in the organized Town of Deer River, and Township 146, Range Said petition requesting that said Town be named Oteneagen. Commissioner O’Brien moved the adoption of the following resolution: “Be it resolved that Township 144, Range 25, that part of Township 145, Range 25 not included in the organ- ized Town of Deer River, and Town- ship 146, Range 25, West of the Sth P. M. in Itasca County, Minnesota, be and the same are hereby organiz- ed into a new town and named the ‘Town of Oteneagen; that the boun- daries of said town of Oteneagen be and the same are here fixed as follows Begining at the northeast corner of Township 146, Range 25, West of the 5th P. .M. and running thence west on town Ene on north side of said township to the north- west corner of sad township; thence south on range line between ranges 25 and 26 to the point where said range line intersects the Mississippi River; thence following the main channel of the Mississippi River in a general easterly direction to the pomt where sa:d river intersects the town line between Townships 144 and 145, Range 25; thence east on said town line ta the southeast corner of Township 144, range 25; thence north on range line on east sde of town- ship 144, range 25 to the northeast corner of said to vnship 144, range 25, thence west on town line between townships 144 jad 145 range 25 to the southwest corner o: Lot 8, sec tion 35 af township 145, range 25, said point be ng the southwest corner of the oj ized Town of Deer River thence nota on sixteenth line across sections 26, 23, 14, 11 and 2, said line being the west boundary line of the organized Town of Deer River tw the northwest corner of Lot 1, section 2; township 145, range 25; thence east along town line between Towmships 145 and 146, range 25 to the northeast corner of townsh‘p 145, range 25; thence north on ramege line along the east side of township 146, range 25 to the nortaeast corner ot Township 146, Range 25, being the point of beginning. That the first town meeting of the town of Oteneagen be held at the re- sidence of Wm. Hulbert situated upon the SE% of SE% section 16; io ship 145, rémge 25, on Thursday the 18th day of August 1910, and that the County Auditor cause the proper notice of said town meeting to be given as provided by law.” The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Commissioner Mullins and carried by unanimous vote. Commissioner Mullins moved the adoption of the following resolution “Resolved that the sum of $500.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated from the.County Revenue Fund to the Itasca County Asricultural Associa- | tion to aid in paying outstanding im- debtedness of said Association.” The motion to adopt the resolution was seconded by Commissioner O’- Brien and carried by unanimous vote. The petition to request the Public examiner to examine the books and accounts of Schools District No, 6 was upon motion of Commissioner 0’- Brien seconded by Commissioner Mul- lins rejected by unanimous vote. The County Auditor was instructed to advertise for bids for graveling State Road No. 1 between the Village of Grand Rapids and Cohasset. The committee upon the examina- tion of the work done under the Wm. Smith contract on County Road No. 83 and the Mitchell & Volke contract upon the Grand Rapids-Bovey road report that said ‘work has een, completed according to contract. The matter of the operation of the Pokegama Lake Ferry was referred tc a committee consisting of Commis- sioner O’Brien and Mullins. A Communication from the Board of Managers of the National Conser- vation Congess to be held at St.P- from Sept. 6 to 9 inclusive requesting.that delegates be appoint- ed to represent Itasca County at said Congress.was then presented and reac \ were by unanimous vote appointed as : fol'owing poling rlace for sa‘d e’ec- delegates to represent Itasca County at said meeting. { A petition for the organization of unorganized Townships 58 and 59 of | range 22 and townships 58 and 59 of | range 23 as an election district was’ then presented. Commissioner Mullins moved the a- doption of the following resolution: “Resolved that unorganized town-| ships 58 and 59 of range 22 and town; ships 58 and 59 of range 23 be and the same are hereby organized as an election district; that the boundaries of said election. district be and the same are hereby fixed as follows: Beginning at the southeast corner of township 58, range 22; thence north} on range line to the northeast corner | of township 59, range 22; thence west on town line to the northwest | corner of township 59, range 23; | thence south on range line to tha gouthwest corner of township 58, range 23; thence east on town line to the point of beginning. That said election district be named “Hartley | Lake” and that the polling place for | said election district be designated att the residence of Peter Louder at Hartley Lake. The motion to adopt the resolution was seconded by Commissioner O’- Brien and carried by unanimous vote. A petition for the organization of an election district to be composed of ur organized townships 53 and 54 of range 26 and 53 and 54 of range 27 waq then presented. Commissioner Mullins moved the adoption of the following resolution: “Resolved that unorganized town- ships 53 and 54 of range 26 and townships 53 and 54 of range 27 be and the same are hereby organized and created as an election district; that the boundaries of said election district fbe and the same are hereby fixed as follows: Beginning at the nontheast corner of township 54, wange 26 and running thence west on town line to the northwest cor- ner of township 54, range 27; thence south on range line to the southwest corner of township 53, range 27; then east on town line to the southeast corner of township 53, range 26; themce north on range line to the northeast corner of township 54, Tange 26, befng the point of be- ginning. That said election district be mamed “Pokegama” and that the polling place for said election dis- trict be designated at Sam Martin’s place, section 26, township 54, range 26." The motion for the adoption of the resolution was seconded by Commis- sioner O’Brien and carried by un- animous vote. A petition to create and establish an election district to be composed of unorganized townships 59 and 60 of of range 24 and townships 59 and 60 of range 25 was then presented. Commissiooner Mullins moved the adoption of the following resolution: “Resolved, that unorganized town- ship 59 afd 60, range 24 and town- ships 59 and 60 range 25 be and the same are hereby organized and creat ed as an election district; that the boundaries of said election district be and the same are hereby fixed as fol- lows: Beginning at the southeast running thence north on range line ta the mortheast corner of township 60 range 24; thence west on town line to the northwest corner of township 60, range 25; thence south on range line to the southwest cor- ner of township 59, range25; thence east on town line to the southeast corner of township 59, range 24, be- ing the point of beginning.
