Pursuant to adjournment the Board of County Commissioners of Itasca County, Minnesota, met at the Court House in the village of Grand Rapids this 5th day of March, 1910, at 10 o'clock A. M. Redfern, Vice Presi- dent of the Nashwauk State Bank came before the Board and requested that the application of said bank for }correction of assessment for the ye {1908, which application was disap- proved by the Board of County Com- missioners at their meeting held De- cember 28, 1909, be reconsidered and approved. Upon motion of Commis- sioner Mullins said application was allowed, by unanimous vote, and re- jcommended to the Minnesota Tax | Commission. ;1:30 o’clock P. M. Pursuant to adjournment the Board again met at 1:30 o’clock P. M. All members present. C. McCarthy be appointed by this Board as a delegate to represent Itas- ca County at the First Minnesota Conservation and Agricultural De- velopment Congress to be held at St. Paul on March 16, 17, 18 and 19, 1910. The motion was seconded by Commissioner O’Brien and carried by unanimous vote. Commissioner Mullins moved that the bid of Melvin N. Rosholt for the construction of County. Road No. 27, as hereinbefore referred to, be ac. cepted and that the chairman of the Board and the County Auditor be in- structed to enter into a contract with said Melvin N. The motion was seconded and carried. Commissioner Trebilcock was in- structed to have estimates prepared for the improvement of the Bovey Road. The matter of the relief of John Ross, Blackberry, was referred to Commissioner Mullins. Commissioner: Mullins moved that the County Auditor be instructed to advertise for bids for the necessary corduroy for County Road No. 68. Beginning at the section corner of sections 29, 30, 31 and 32, Township 55 Range 25 and running thence of Lot 2, section 6, Township 54 Range 25. The motion was seconded by Com- missioner King and carried. Commissioner Trebilcock moved that the purchasing committee be instructed to purchase the necessary rubber matting for the Court Room. The motion was seconded by Com- missioner King and carried by unani- mous vote. Commissioner King moved that the County Auditor be instructed to advertise for bids for ditching and grading the Deer River- Ball Club Road from Deer River to Dumas’. Said work to be done ac- cording to plans and specifications to be prepared by the County Sur- veyor and filed im the office of the County Auditor. The motion was sec- onder by Commissioner Trebilcock and carried by unanimous vote. Commissioner King moved that the County Auditor be authorized and in- structed to pay freight bills on mater- ial for the addition to the County Jail, including cell work, and that the amount paid for ducted from the first payments due the contractors. Commissioner Mullins moved that the County Auditor be authorized and instructed to issue his warrant in favor of Marwick-Mitchell & Co., for the sum of $400.00 on account of the examination of the books and ac- counts of the County Treasurer’s of- fice. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Trebilcock and carried .| by unanimous vote. A petition signed by thirty resi- dent free-holderg and tax pay ot the county was presented and read. Said petition requested the Board to appropriate to the county Agricultural Association the sum of $1,000.00 for the pur pose of paying premiums at the coun- ty fair im the year 1910 and that the same amount be appropriated for each succeeding year. After consid- erable discussion Commissioner Mul- lins moved that the sum of $500.00 be appropriated from the County Revenue fund to the Itasca County Agricultural Association for the pur- pose of paying premiums at the coun- \ty fair to be held in the year 1910. The motion was seconded by Com- missioner O’Brien and curried by unanimous vote. Commissioner Trebilcock moved that the bid of Jasper N. Pogue for |the construction of a bridge across | Swan River on County Road No. 27 be accepted, with the understanding |that two additional. stringers be put in said bridge and that he be allowed the sum of $20.00 in addition to the sum of $490.00 specified in his bid, for putting in the two additional stringers and that the chairman of the Board and the County Auditor be instructed to enter! into a contract construction of said bridge. Chairman McWilliams suggested that the Board request the County Attorney to use every effort to stop the operation of Blind Pigs in the vicinity of the range towns and that he be requested to communicate with the superintendents of the various mines on the range and ask them tc assist him in the matter. The members of the Board were unani- mously in faver of this action the County Auditor was instructed + notify the County Attorney.
