} OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Itasca County, Minnesota. Grand Rapids, Minn., November 3, 1909. A special meeting of the board of County Commissioners of Itasca county, Minnesota, was held at the office of the county auditor in the village of Grand Rapids this 3rd day of November, A. D., 1909 at 4 o’clock p. m. at which all members of the board were} present. The bond of the County Treasurer in the sum of $100,000.00 with Glen Strader as principal and the National Surety company of New York as surety was presented and read. Commissioner. Trebilcock moved the adoption of the following resolution: “Resolved that the bond of the County Treasurer in the sum of $100, 000.00 with Glen Strader as principal and the National Surety company of New York as surety be and the same fs hereby approved by this board and that the Chairman of the board and the county auditor be instructed to so certify the same.” The motion was seconded by Com- missioner O’Brien and the resolution was adopted’ by unanimous vote. The following request was then pre- sented and read: To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners, Itasca county, Minne- sota: Gentlemen :— We, the undersigned, William C. Gilbert, Anselin C. Bossard, Danfel M. Gunn, Jno. C. Gréenway, John Beckfelt and H. D. Powers, sureties on the bond of Glen Strader as county treasurer of said county, filed in your office on to-wit the 16th day of Oct- ober, A. D., 1909, and filed for record and recorded in the office of the register of deeds on the 27th day of October, A. D., 1909, in book 26 of M. R. on page 318, do hereby state tha’ we are informed that said Glen Strader has duly furnished to said county and to the State of Minne- sota a bond in the sum of to-wit, One hundred thousand dollars, and in the amount required by your honora- ble board, with the National Surety company of New York as surety thereon, conditioned for the faithful performance of his duties as such county treasurer of said county ac-- cording to law, and we therefore re- spectfully request and demand that upon the filing and approval of said f‘sunety' bond, the said bond upon which we are sureties as above statec be duly canceled, vacated and dis- charged, and that we as_ sureties thereon be released and discharged therefrom, and from all obligations or responsibility for any act or thing done by said Strader as such county treasurer, subsequent to the filmg and approval of said surety ‘bond, and we ask that your honorable ‘body by proper resolution do so can-- cel amd discharge said bond and re- lease and discharge us as surety thereon. Resolution Cancelling and Discharg- ing Bond and Releasing and Dis- charging Sureties. Whereas, Because of the resigna- tion of Arthur A. Kremer, it be- came necessary and the county poard and board of county com- missioners of Itasca county Minn., did on to-wit the 12th day of October, 1909, appointed one Glen Str: er, county treasurer of said county and to be county treasurer of said county during the balance of the term of office of said Kremer, and Whereas, by order of said board, said appointee, Glen Strader, was re- quired to furnish a bond in the sum of to-wit, One Hundred thousand dol- lars, conditioned according to law, for the faithful discharge of his dut- fes as such treasurer, the surety on which bond was by said county board requirdd™ to be a surety company duly authorized to carry on business in the state of Minnesota, and Whereas, said Glen Strader, im- mediately upon his appointment made application to-wit, the National Sure- ty company of New York, for such pond. and thereupon it was ascer- tain that some time might and probably would elapse before. such surety bond could be furnished filed and approved and in order for said Strader to quali fy and take possession of said office of county treasurer of said county of Itasca and perform the duties there- of, it became and was necessary that he furnish a temporary bond, same to insure his actions and con- duct in said office, and the perfor- mance of his duties therein between the date of his said appointment and the furnishing of said surety bond only, and Sy for said purpose, said Strader did on to-wit, the 16th day of October, A.D., 1909: furnish to said county board a bond, copy of which is hereonto attached, marked ‘Exhib- it “A” and made a part hereof, with the further understanding be tween all parties, including the sureties on said bond, Exhibit “A” that the same was to remain in force and effect only during the interim or time eer said|Johu Beckfelt and H. Pursuant to proceedings duly had, the village of Grand Rapids, Minne- sota, has heretofore let and entered into a contract for the paving of that part of Third street in said Village, from a point 200 feet east of Leland avenue to the east side of Clough avenue, and for the curbing and gut- tering of same, and the council of said village have by due and legai proceedings made and confined an assessmentupon each lot and parcel of land fronting on said improvement and benefited thereby, of an aggre- gate amount equalling 85 per cent of the estimated cost of such im- provement, the total amount so as- sessed being $12,928, of which $9,- 696 is assessed against property. a- butting said improvement on south side and $3,232 is assessed against property abbuting said improvement on the north side thereof; more than confirmation of said assessment and no objections thereto has been made or filed, nor any part thereof paid.
