Village of Grand Rapids Notice is hereby given that whereas a contract has been let for the pav- ing of Third street, in this village, from a point 200 feet east of Leland avenue west to the east side of Colugh avenue, with Rudolph S. Blome Company’s patented granitoid (conerete) pavement, including a paved driveway thirty-three feet in width, together with curbing and gut- tering, and the necessary grading and excavating therefore, and eighty-five per cent of the estimated cost and expense of such improvement to be assessed to each lot or tract of land fronting on such improvement hav- ing been determined by the village council of said village and so asses- sed Now, therefore, said village council will, at their council chamb- ers in said village, at eight o'clock p. m., of Thursday the 30th day of September, 1909, meet to review and confirm such assessment, at which time and place all persons interested may appear and make objections to the same. It is proposed to issue bonds chargeable to the abutting real estate to pay such assessment, and such bonds will be issued covering all such assessments, except in cases where owners of the property shall pay to the village treasurer, within thirty days after the confirmation of such assessment, the amount there- of assessed against their property. The following is a list of the sup- posed owners’ names, a description of the property liable to such as- sessment, and the amount assessed against the same, all said property being in the original townsite of Grang Rapids, Itasca County, Minnesota, ac- cording to the recorded plat thereof, to-wit: D. Sealed bids will be received by the Village Council of the village of Calumet, at the office of the village clerk, in said village, up to 8 o’clock p. m., September 23, 1909, for the furnishing of the jail cells, window guards, doors, etc., to be installed in the new jail. MICK, ‘Village Clerk (Village Seal) Herald-Review Sept 15-22 Leen eee eS 4 ———————— Sealed Bids Sealed bids will be received by the Board of County Commissioners of Itasca county Minnesota, up until 10 o’clock a. m., on Wednesday the 22nd day of September, 1909, at the office of the county auditor in the Village of Grand Rapids for making the fol- lowing improvements upon a certain highway in.said county known’ as “State Road No. 1”. The said im- provements to be as follows: Beginning at the bridge over Kerr brook on the state road, and running north- to the north end of drainage ditch on said road, grade all black or turf soil to a width of 11 feet, crowned. one foot high in the center with gradual slope to each side of grade. All clay or mixed clay, sand and turf soils 16 feet wide, crowned two feet high in center with gradual slops to each side. Straighten the grade on both sides the entire length of designated road. In leveling and grading, all soil of everv kind should be moved to the west. None on to berm. All washouts to be filled with soil taken from west side of the grad and not within 16 feet of the wes’ side of the grade. « At the north end of the drainage ditch finished. work partially done for a distance of only one-half mile end- ing at the 16th post one-fourth mile south of N. E. corner of section 26, township 147, range 25. Where hand ditches are now made. fill road. with soil three feet deep ir center with gradual slope to each side of grade making grade eighteen inches deep at each side. Complete grubbing of road in intervening up land 18 feet wide and grade same t a rounded center 2% feet abov sides with ditch on each side 2% feet deep. a Place the nine steel corrugat« culverts at the places designated and cover the same with soil, level with grade on each side, of each culvert. All culverts to be furnished by county and delivered at Deer River, except one 18 inch culvert to be delivered at coal dock. The Board reserves the right to re- ject any and all bids.
