OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Grand Rapids, Minn., Jan. 29, 1909. Pursuant to adjournment, the board of coun- ty commissioners of Itasca county, Minne- s0ta, met at the court house in the village of Grand Rapids, this 29th day of January, 1909. Members present: Commissioners Mullins, Trebilcock, McWilliams and O’Brien, Mr. M. Nelson was present and requested the board to make an appropriation to aid in the construction of a road, beginning at the northeast corner of lot 1, section 25, township 55, range 24,and running thence south on line between lots 1 and 2 of section 25 to the to the Swan River. The county not having secured a right-of-way for said road the matter was laid over to the next meeting and Mr. Nelson was instructed tosecure from the ndele yee of said landa right-of-way for said road. The annual financial statement of Itasca county for the year ending December 3lst, 1908, as prepared by the county auditor was then presented to the board for approval. Commissioner O'Brien moved the adoption of the following resolution: “Resolved that the financial statement of tasca county for the year ending December , 1908 as prepared by M. A. Spang. county ditor of said county. be and the same is hereby approved by this board, respectfully submitted to the taxpayers of Itasca county, Minnesota and ordered published as.provided by law, in the Grand Rapids Herald-Review.” Motion to adopt the resolution was second- ed by Commissioner Trebilcock and carried by unaoimous vote. N. Swift came before the board and onary ed that he be againcared forat the Itasca county poor farm. Upon motion of Commis- sioner Trebilcock seconded by Commissioner O’Brien, said N. Swift was ordered committed to the poor farm. Commissioner O’Brien moved that the county auditor be instructed to draw a war- rant upon the county road and bridge fund, in the sum of $300.00in favor of Math. Kosholt, being for part payment on his contract for constructing bridge across the Swan River on the Feeley and Bovey road. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Trebilcock and carried by unanimous vote, Mr. G, A. Henry came before the board and requested the board to take steps as early as possible forthe construction of a roadin township 59, range 22. Upon motion of Com- missioner McWilliams, seconded by Commis- sioner O’Brien, the matter was laid over to the next meeting. Commissioner King arrived at this time and took a seat at the meeting. A petition of Lownsberry & Simmons was then read. Said petition requested the board that in the construction of the Blackberry- Feeley road, they follow certain streets as shown by pat ofa townsité at Blackberry. Acopy ofsaid plat being attached to said petition. Commissioner King moved that the chair- man appoint a committee of 3 to investigate the matter, to which committee the petition be referred. Said committee to report to the board attheir first meeting after such in- vestigation. The motion was seconded by Commissioner McWilliams and carried by unanimous vote. Chairman Mullins then Bppointed Commis- sioner King, O’Brien and McWilliams as such committee, The verified statements of fees and emolu- ments of the various county offices filed with the county auditor pursuant to the provisions of section 603 of the revised laws of 1905 were then presented tothe board by the county auditor who informed the board that all officers had filed such statement as required by law. The following applications for correction of aseessmeat und abatement of taxes were approved and recommended to the Minnesota tax commission, | Mrs. Ella Dora Jeliison, Ida Waterstreet, | county auditor for cancellation of taxes | assesed against sw of sw. section 13, 60-22. | for years prior to final proof. All other applications for correction of | assessment and abatement of taxes were laid over to the next mecting for 1urther cou- sideration. The matter of the appointment of an in- spector of mines for the county of Itasca was then taken under considtration. Commissioner Tribilcock moved the adop- tion of the following resolutiou: “Resolved that Peter L. Ramquist be and he is hereby appointed inspector of mines for the county of Itasca, Minnesota, pursuant to the proyisions of Chapter 166, general laws of 1905: said appointment to take effect and be in force from and after the first day of Feb. 1909.. The motion to adopt the resolution was seconded by Commissioner King and carried by unanimous vote.” Commissioner McWilliams moved the adop- tion of the following resolution: “Resolved that the salary of Peter L Ram- uist as inspector of mines for the county of tasca, Minnesota be and the same is hereby fixed at $600.00 per annum.” The motion to adopt the resolution was second by Commis- sioner King and carried by unanimous vote Upon motion of Commissioner O’Brien, seconded by Commissioner McWilliams. the minutes of the last meeting were approved by unanimous vote.
