REGUS Itasca Paper Co., belting for township Supervisor McEwan introduced the follow- ing preamble and resolution and moved its adoption: “Whereas there is now due and payable the sum of $325.00, being the semi-annual interest apn eed $13,000 five per cent bond issue of 907, ani Whereas, there is according to the records of the township, cog A the sum of $85.73 in the bonds and ihterest fund to pay same, and Whereas, there 1s money in other funds of the township which is not available for use at thio time. Now, Therefore, be it and it is hereby re- solved, that the sum of $1.22 remaining in the poor fund, and the sum of $238.05 of the road and bridge fund be transferred to the bonds and interest fund, and further that a warrant for $325.00 be issued to the town treasurer to aa he said semi-annual ‘interest on said onds.”* Supervisor Haschey seconded the motion to adopt the resolution and upon a vote the motion prevailed by a unanimous vote. The bill of the Great Northern railway for labor upon crossing on the Blackberry road was presented and rejected. Supervisor McEwan introduced the follow- ing resolution and moved its adoption: “Resolved that ail labor on roads be su- spended until further action thereon is taken by this board, Provided, however, that when- ever two members of this board shall deem it necessary and advisable during the recesses of this board to have any repairs made upon any read in the township or any labor per- formed upon roads legally laid out in the township, that said two members shall be and are hereby authorized by this board to have said repairs. and labor performed, Provided. however, that in the eyeat of the necessity of such work being done, the work shall be given to the farmer living in the immediate vicinity of the place where said labur is to be done, if satisfactory arrangements therefor can be made. and in no event shall an ex- penditure exceeding $25.00 be had upon any one road under this resolution. Further, that said two members may engage the services ef any person or persons they see fit to engage to perform such repairs, no services to be in excess of $25.00 during the recess of this board for work on any one road.” Chairman McDonald seconded the motion to adopt the resolution, and said resolutiou was adopted by a unanimous vote. The committee appointed May 9th, 1908, to view the route of a proposed public road and ay hway in said township made report as tollows; To the Board of Supervisors, township of Grand Rapids. Itasca county, Minn., greet- ings Gentlemen: We, the undersigned, your committee ap- pointed at the meeting of the Board of Super- visors of Grand Rapids township, to personally examine the route named in the petition fora highway and public road in Grand Rapids township, and for the purpose of hearing all reasons for or against said proposed h‘gh and public road, and to act upon said pet: beg leave to report, that we did cause due notice of said viewing and hearing to be duly served upon such of the property owners and occupants of said lands residing thereon affected by id proposed highway and due notice served upon the owners of said lands affected by said highway as do not reside upon Said lands by causing notice thereof to be served by posting three notices of such viewing and hearing in three conspicuous places in'said township of Grand Rapids, Prasca county. Minn., (said notices being so served and posted ten days prior to the date set for hearing and viewing, viz: the 6th day of June, 1908. ut 4 o'clock in the afternoon of said day), did meet at the time and place ordered in your appointment of such viewers, to wit: On June 6th, 1908, at 4 o’clock p.m., at a point where the north and south quarter line in section 25, township 55, range 25, inter- sects what is known as the “Blackberry road” in said township of Grand Rapids, in Itasca county and state of Minnesota, and did then and there proceed to personally view the proposed public road and highway described in the petition filed therefor, described there- in as follows: “Beginning at a point where the north and south quarter line in section 25, township 55, range 25, intersects what is kpown as the “Blackberry road” in said township: thence running due north on said north and south quarter line in said section 25, to the quarter post at the south west corner of the south west quarter of the south west quarter of sec- tion 24, said township 55, range 25: Thence running due west on the section line between sections 24 and 25, said township 55, range 25 to a point where said section line intersects what isknown as the ‘Ranger road” in said town- ship 55, range 2.” That we travelled the said proposed route and from personai inspection thereof, we do most respectfully report that it is our unani- mous opinion that the laying out and estab- lishment of said proposed public mom pion and road is feasable and adyisable and to be de- sired, and do recommend that the prayer in said petition contained be granted and said proposed public highway ‘and road be layed out and established on the route as set forth in the petition therefor. -We further report that no objections were made to your com- mittee, personally or otherwise. and_ no objections have been made to the board of supervisors of the township of Grand ware against the laying out of said public high- way and road. and that no owner. occupdnt or tennant, or agent of any Owner. occupant or tennant of the lands affected by said pro- posed public highway and road has m claim for damages by reason of the acquisition lor the lands for said public highway and road. and your committee is of unanimous opinion that the benefits accrueing to the owners of the lands over which said public 700 5 00 07 2 PY ultural society, Was present and called jon to the necessity of changing the abuting the village of the Bovey road, said change bein, account of the building o' k at the fair grounds. That we did then and there proceed to personally view the route of said proposed public highway and road described in said petition as follows: “Beginning at the north west corner of the s w of 8 wig. section 28, township 55, range 25, and thence running south 1 mile on sixteenth line to south west corner of nw of s W %, section 33, thence west one-quarter mile on south line of nw 4 of sw 4 of section Oo the sectien line between section: and 33, in township 55, range 25. Said road so to be established connecting at a point of begin- ning with a highway heretofore established. and connecting at the point of ending with a public road now existing in said town at said point. Said road to be two rods wide. ex- tending one rod on each side of the centre thereof as indicated above.” That we travelled the said proposed route and from a personal inspection thereof we are of the unanimous opinion that the laying out und establishment of said proposed public highway and road is feasahle and to be de- sired, and do waanimously recommend as follows, viz: That said proposed public road and high- way be layed out and established according to the prayer contained in the petition therefor: ‘That inasmuch as no objections have been made to your committee or to the board of supervisors of the township. in writing or otherwise, by the owners of the following de- seribed lands affected by the laying out and establishment of said road and highway: A. F. Brooks, owner of the se %4 of s w %4, sectiou 28, township 55, range 25; Lando F. Gran, owner of then e % Of n w ‘4. section 3% town ‘ange 25; Elmer Owens, owner of the nW \. section 33, township 55, range George B, Aiton, owner of the ne % of s W section 33. township 55, range 25; John Hoffman, owner oj the s e 4 of s w 4. section 33, township 55, range 25, and no claims for damages have been made or filed with your, committee or with the township board, and’ we being of unanimous opinion that the benefits accrueing to said lands are in access of the damages incurred by reason of said laying out and establishment of said high- way, that said owners of said lands have and take nothing as damages by reason of said laying out and establishment of said road and highway. That inasmuch as the laying out and estab- lishment of said road and highway does in- cur damages to the following lands, and in- asmuch as your committee could not agree with the owners of the lands as tothe meas- ure of damages incurred, your committee have agreed upon a damage of the sum of $30.00 per acre for each and every acre of lands acquired for said highway and road, and find that the following owners are en- titled to the following damages: E.
