ate _ John R. Donohue, Former County Attorney, Wins Contest Case. On May 4th the supreme court of the United States handed down a decision which is of considerable interest to John R. Donohue, former- ly county attorney of Itasca county, now a resident of St. Paul. where he is engaged in tbe practice of law. The news report from Washington says:—“‘The supreme court of the United States today decided the case of the St. Paul, Minneapolis & Mani- toba Railroad vs. John R. Donohue, involving a conflict over the posses- sion of land in the Cass Lake land district of Minnesota, in favor of Donohue. The land was settled by a homesteader through whom Donahue made a claim in 1893, before it had been surveyed, but no effort was made to enter it until 1896, after the suryey had been made. In the mean- time the tract had beeu included in the list of land grants to the railroad. The Minnesota supreme court decid- ed in favor of the homesteader and the federal court affirmed the decision today.’ The Morrissey Estate. A. E. Wilder, as administrator of the estate of Andrew Morrissey, de- ceased, has paid 50 per cent of claims that have been allowed in full on $10,931.00. The full amount of the claims filed against the estate is $15,378.00, $4,446.95 of which has beep objected to. The balance due on ‘claims fully allowed will be paid later on. The validity of the claims objected to will be given a further hearing before Judge of Probate Huson on Monday, May 11.
