It may be that the latter are just now giving more attention to iron mining than to the agricultural interests. If this is the se, however, conditions will change in time. The soil that produces the bread of tife is of far greater value to the general wellfare than is the iron depusits, however great they may be. The Saturday meeting was called to order by A. M. A forest fire at Little Trout lake last Saturday destroyed about three thousand dollars worth of cedar posts and ties belonging to E. O. Moore & Co. A crew of men were taken to the scene of the fire by special train from Deer River, but were unable to save the property. Stole Seven Hundred d Dollars. + Louis Falloco, a was convicted of the crime of assault with a deadly weapon in 1905 and sentenced to Stillwater from Grand Rapids for a term of three years, was released on parvle some time ago. Chief of Police Harry went west to day with a warrant for the arrest of one David E. Watson. Mr. Watson had been in Grand Rapids a few days and stopped at the Hotel Pokegama while he solicited advertisements from local business men for a time table of the Great Northern railway which_he proposed to issue. For these advertisements he is said to bave collected various sums of money and left town without producing the promised time cards He also forgot tesettle his bill at the botel. For these oversights he will be called to account before the local court, if the officer brings him back. Watson is said to be in Bemidji now working his graft. Lynch Discharged. Wm. Lynch, who was charged with complicity in the burning of a house of ill fame at Bovey last week, was brought up for hearing before Justice » Kearney on Monday. Upon motion of Assistant County Attorney Ross- man the charge was withdrawn and Lynch discharged. There was no evi- dence against the accused.
