Hartley Planning to Increase the Capacity of His Big Experimental Farm. The Grand Haven (Mich.) Tribuse gives the following interesting news relating to the famous Island Farm near Floodwood: Heber L. Hartley, of Cass Lake, Minnesota was in the city accompanied by Jacob Dyke, a former resident of Grand Haves. Mr. Hartley and Mr. Dyke were here: for the pucpose of securing Holland- American celery growers of Grand Haven to work on Island Farm, a mammoth celery, stock and general farm, which G. G. Hartley, of Duluth, is building up in St. Louis county, eighty miles west of the Zenith city. The growing of celery in that section of Minnesota isa new ven- ture, but the land is well adapted to its culture, and Mr. Hartley is con- fident that with expert celery growers at work upon it this farm will be made one of the richest and most productive in the northwest. The farm isone of over 1600 acres and 1s located on the main line of the Great Northern. In order to induce men to work on the farm Mr. Hartley has introduced a colonization scheme, acd will give every celery grower who goes there the privilege of using five acres of ground for five years and at the end of that time will sell the ground to the worker fora nominal sum. The section is one of the most delightful in the country. Mr. Hartley is confident that a number of Grand Haven celery growers will avail themselves of the’ opportunity offered.” A Good Change. For the past few years Mr. C. W. Woodford, agent for the Great East- ern Casualty and Indemnity company of New York, has been writing our citizens a $1000 accident policy for $3 a year. He will be here on time for renewals with a better policy issued by the same company. While the registration will be with the Western Registry Co. of St. Paul, a home com- pany, organized under the laws of the State of Minnesota, instead of regis- tering at Washington, D. C., 1500 miles away. Pay no attention te any one who may attempt to get Mr. Woodford’s renewals from him. For Sale.
