Min- nesota, met at the court house in the village ofGrand Rapids this 8th day of February, Members present; Commissioners Mullins, O'Brien, Passard and King. ‘ Minutes of the last meeting read and ap- proved. Commissioner O’Brien moved that the board adjourn to 1:30 p.m. Commissioner Passard moved that the matter of re-districting the county into commissioners districts be taken up ut this time, There was no second to the motion. Commissioner King seconded Com- missioner O’Brien’s motion to adjourn and the same was carried by the foilowing vote: Commissioners Mullins, O’Brien and King voting in favor of\the motion, and Commig- sioner Passard org against it.. The board then adjourned to 1:30 p,m. Pursuant to adjournment the board again met at 1:30 p, m. Members present: Commissioners Mullins, King, O’Brien ard Passard. An application was then presented by Mr. Jos, Sellwood, agent, and Mr. Douglas. attor- ney, for the ‘Wisconsin Steel Co., for correction of assessment and abatement of taxes upon the Hawkias mine at Nashwauk. Upon mo- tion of Commissioner Passard, seconded by Commissioner O’Brien, the application was laid over until the next meeting for further consideration. Commissioner O'Brien moved that the coun- ty attorney be instructed to procure from the Ambridge Iron Mining Companga final report of the exploration work done by said company upon the county poor farm. The motian was seconded by Commissioner Passard and car- ried by # unanimous vote. Mr. Hunt, represeating E. J. Longyear, re- quested the board to amend paragraph2 of page 3 of the poor farm option. Upon motion the matter was referred to the county attor- ney. The matter of the re-districting the county was again taken up. A number of citizens from Nashwauk, Bovey and Coleraine were peer and presented the matter to the rd in the interest of their respective com- munities. After a great deal of discussion. Commissioner Passard moved that districts be formed as indicated upon a certain map that was presented, said districts being de- scribed as follows: District No.1: All territory west of the 5th Bi mryand all that part of. the town of Deer iver, in Townships 56 and 67, Range 27. District No.2: Allot Ranges 26 and 27 in the 4th p. m. District No.3: Allof Ranges 24 and 25. 4th Pp. m. north of Townships numbered 55, District No.4: Allof Townships 53, 54 and 55 of Ranges 22, 23, 24 and 25 4th p. m. District No.5: All of Ranges 22 and.23 4th Pp, m. north of Townships numbered 55. ‘There was no second to the motion. Commissioner King then moved that the matter of re-districting the county be laid over uatil the next meeting. motion was seconded by Commissioner O'Brien and car- ried by the following vote: Commissioners King, Mullins and O’Brien voted “Yea” and Commissioner Passard voting “Nay.” W. C. Gilbert, on behalf of the Itasca Cedar Company, presented an application for re- duction of assessment in item A-I7 of thi sonal preperty assessment of said company in the town of Marcell. Upon motion tne ap- plication was laid over until the next meet- ing for further consideration. It being the time set for hearing upon the application of J. L. Rushenberg tor a license to sell intoxicatin; Honan: St Marcell, also, the application of Mike: mber for a license to sell intoxicating l.quors at Holman, the same were tuken under consideration. A petition was presented for the incorpor- ation of certain territory into a muni incorporation to be named the village of Hol- man and requesting the rd to fixa time and pluce, when and_ where the voters resid- ing within said territory might vote for or Commissioner King moved the adoption of the following resolution: Whereas, a certain petition for incorpora- ting the village of Holman has been duly pre- sented tothe board of county commissioners in and for the county of Itasca and State of Minnesota, it beiug shown by said petition that it is desired to incorporate a certain tract of land in said county not already in- corporated, to-wit: the northwest quarter of the northeast quarter [nw of ne*] of Sec- tion twenty-seven [27], ovedie. fifty-six [56] North, Range twenty four (24) West 4th p, m., and that said tract has heretofore been plat- ted into lots and blocks with a view of vil- lage ocoupancy, and that said plat has here- tofore been duly and legally certified and filed in the office of the Register of Deeds in and for said county, said plat being dedicated as “Holman,” and whereas, it is further shown by said petition, among other things, that a census of said territory so proposed to be incorporated has been duly taken. and that said census discleses a population of more ‘han two hundred {200] persons resident upon said territory so proposed to be incor- porated. and whereas, it is further recited by said petition that said tract of land is so con- ditioned as properly to be subject to village, government. and whereas, itis true that said petition has been duly signed by the required number of voters residing within said terri- tory, and further, that all the requirements of the statutes in such cases made and pro- yided have -been duly complied with on the part of said petitioners and in the instance of their said petition; Now, therefore, after duly. considering said petition and alk the facts in connection there- with, be it, and it hereby is resolved, that said petition be approved and the prayer uhereof be granted, and further, that the elec- tion prayed for in said petition be and the same hereby isordered to be held on Mon- day the 2nd day of March, A.
