Avpitor’s Orrice, Irasca County, MINN. ‘Tuesday, April 2d, 1901, Minutes of ‘the last meeting were read and approved. z It being the time set for the opening of bids and proposals for the purchase of the $15.000.00 of {tasca county road and bridge bonds, the several bills were opened as follows: 4 Bid of R. V. Montague & Co., accrued inter- est and premium of $455. Bid of Kane & Co., accrued interest and premium, $627.50, Bid of John Nuveen & Co., accrued interest and premium of $562.50. Bid of D. M. Farson, accrued interest and premium of $390.00. Bid of S.A. Kean, accrued interest and a premium of $443.00. Bid of Lawrence Barnum & {Co., accrued in- terest and premium of $337.50. ; Bid of Commercial Investment company, ac- crued interest and premium of $475. Bid of W. J. Hayos & Sons, accrued .interest and premium of $1,384, Commissioner Moore offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: Resolved, By the board of county commis- sioners of Itasca county, Minnesota, that the bid and offer of W.J..Hayes & Sons, of Cleve- land. Ohio, to purchase $15,000.005 per cent road and bridge bonds of Itasca county, dated December tst, 1900, be accepted by this board, and that the chairman of said bourd and the allowed and recommended to the state uuditor for his approval. A. M. Sisler made application for a refund of #1.50 the amount paid by him atthe forfeited tax sale, which tax had been previously paid, annulling the sale thereof. Upon motion duly made and carried the application was allowed. Henry C. Washburn made application for a correction of assessment and abatement of taxes upon lots 4and5 in block 27. Plat of La- Prairie. Upon motion duly made and carried the application was allowed and recommended to the state auditor for his approval. Alex Sang made application for a correction half and the tuxes correspondingly abated. John F, Manness made applicatson for a cor- rection of assessment and abatement of taxes upon lots Sand 4, block 29. Original Plat, for the years 1896 to 1899 inclusive. Upon motion duly made and carried the application was allowed. Henry {Gelenaw made application for the correction of assessment and abatement of taxes upon lots7 und 8, block 29, Original Plat. Upon motion duly made and carried the application was rejected. J. H. Gruber made application for the cor- rection of assessment and abatement of taxes for the year 1900, upon lands in town 57, range 22, Upon motion motion duly made and car- ried the application was laid over,and that the assessor be instructed to examine said landsand report atthe next meeting. The county attorney reported the assessment made. and taxes levied upon the lands owned by Edward Bergen were illegal and he would rec- ommend that the abatement asked for be al- lowed. Upon motion duly made and carried the application was allowed and recommend- ed to the state auditor for his approval. Sheriff Tyndall reported that the carpets on the second floor of the sheriff's residence were worn out, and the walls were in bad condition; also the walls in the county jail chase a carpet for the large room and alcove in the northwest corner, and to put in a hardwood floor in the hallway on the second floor, and to have the walls catcimined in the sheriff's residence, ulso inthe jail. _ Upon motion duly made and curried the sheriff was instructed to have Timothy Mc- Grath removed to the county hospital. Superintendent of Poor McHugh came be- fore the board and requested a settlement for the increase of live stock on the poor farm. It was duly moved and curried that Mr. McHugh pay to the county the sum of $4 in settlement of the same. B.C.
