We beleve that said proposed improvement will greately promote the general prosperity and wellfare of the tux-payers of said muni- ity and that it will befor the best in- t of said village to waive the issuance by said company of ony such stock to said village and we therefore pray that such is- suance of stock be waved. After due consideration of said petition the following resolution was presented and on motion unanimously adopted, to-wit Wuerreas. the Grand Rapids Water & Boom Company. a corporation organized and exist- ing under the laws of the State of Minnesota with powers of eminent domain and authoriz- ed by act of congress todam the Mississippi River at nd Rapids, Minn., has made ap- plication to the Village council of Grand Rapids Mina.,and tothe Village of Grand Rapids, Minn., for a cash donation in the sum and of the amount of six thousand dol- lars ($6000.00) to aid and be used in the con- demnation of landsin and along the Miss- issippi River at and above Grand Rapids for water way and water-power purposes and for the construction of udam across said Miss- issippi River at said Grand Rapids, which application is in writing and filed with the illage recorder of said Village. and, WuHEREA , we believe that the improve- ment of said Mississippi River at said point by the condemnation of lands and the build- ing of said dam will be of great public bene- fit and for the general good of all the people of said Village, and, WHEREAS, we believe that the said sum of six thousand dollars should be appropriated and donated as asked in said application and for the purposes stated in gail application, which xpplication is hereby made a part of this resolution, and, WHEREAS, We believe the said donation to be necessary te secure the said improvement of said water-way, the Mississippi River at said point. and necessary for the condemna- tion of lands, the payment of damages. costs and expenses and the building of said dam together with a canal to be used in connec- tion with said dam, NOW THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED, that a special election be called to be held in and or said Village of Grand Rapids, afinn., on the 2th dav of December, A.
