D. 1898, at 10 o’clock a. m., for the purpose of placing in nomination can- didates for the following offices, viz: One senator and. two representatives for said sand legisiative district. The basis of representation Is one Jegate at large for each county in and one delegate for each said district, roo votes or major fraction thereof cast for Hon. T. R. Foley in 1896. The several counties are entitled to the number of delegates following, Aitkin 6, Carlton 5, Cass 3, Total 21. Viz: Itasca 7. FREEMAN E. KRECH, Chairman. E. C. K1ey, i Secretary. n, Minn., July 14, 1898. Our friend, the Magnet, appears to be bent on keeping up a disgusting argument anentéthe village council to an extent that bespeaks but for its judgment. The “objection” to the council appears to think that the Her- ald-Review’s defense against its sland- ers is sufficient cause for its abuse, at least we come to this conclusion in the absence of an interpeter for its English. It is quite apparent that the Mag- net boys feel just a wee bit ashamed of the foolish things they have said in the past three issues and are looking for a way out of the unnecessary pre- dicament into which they have fallen through the advice of others not re- sponsible for the success or failure of newspapers. In truth the Magnet feels sore be- cause it did not guess the winners at the lasttvillaze election and is dis- ed because of its stupidity. Our friend says that it did not ac- cuse the council of stealing stolen wood. It did, though, and the facts developed that the Magnet was ¢ither a falsifier or had been misinformed. The same authority undertook to de- velope a misunderstanding between President Trainor and the members of | the purchasing committee. However, the Magnet was mis ity of the material with which it at- tempted to tmnffe. The reiations among the members of the council are entirely amicable.- They ar: well aware of the Republican scheme to disrupt the party, and _ the things that have been said will only tend to solid- ify the forces. Hereafter phisicans must place a ten cent stamp on all death certificates | filed by them. It 1s not probable, says an exchange, the goverment meat to include such certificates, but after providing for a tax on certificates of profit or damage, the law plainly reads “Certificates of any description required by law not otherwise specified in this act, ten cents.” It is quite probable that the law willbe amended |: for such certificates cannot be reguard- ed as being either articals for profit or for luxury. Physicians, however, in order to save the ro cents must see to it that there are no deaths. D. C. Connors arrived from Little Falls this week. During the next few weeks he will be kept busy prepanng for Freeman & Gray’s work during the season of 1898-9.
