George Cox left for California last Wednesday to visit a sister he has not seen for twenty nine years, after which he goes to Anzon where he thinks of locating. Geo. Kremer went to Deer Rover, yesterday morning to begin construc. tion of a hotel for James Sullivan of Grand Ramds. The building is tobe twenty eight by fifty-six feetand will be quite an addition to the hotel ac- comodations in that village. : F. M. Lund, and family have been visiting Attorney C. L. Pratt and wife for the past week. Mr. Lund is now np on the reservation’and Mrs. Lund and children will remain at Mr. Pratt's for a week or two. J. B. At the meeting last night it was decided to hold their second annual social at the school house on Friday evening, January 21st. The members are allowed to invite but one guest so but a limited number will be fortunate enough to enjoy the occasion. ‘The apron fair and supper given by the ladies ofthe M. E. church, last Wednesday afternoon and evening, was a financial success, and the ladies have been smiling over their good luck ever since. They hung up about seventy aprons, and had but two left on their hands at the close of the sale. Their receipts lacked but a dime of being forty dollars, after all expenses were paid. Logan and Doyle will entertain their friends at the Palace Saloon and Restaurant on Leland ave.,from nine until twelve. Extensive changes and improvements have been made within the past few weeks in the interior of Mr. Logan’s place of business and every thing be- ing in readiness, a cordial invitation is extended to every one to call in to- night and participate in the lunch and refreshments that will be served. The entire lower floor of the building has been remodeled, a concert room and restaurant having been fitted up in the rear of the bar room. Wm. Porter, an experienced chef, will have charge of the restaurant and with his ability and the extended acquaintance Mr. Logan enjoys this branch of business 1s sure to prove a success. Sleeping rooms have also been furnished on the second floor. With these acquisitions to the Palace, the Proprietors expect an increased pat- ronage and they propose to do all in their power to merit it. Mr. Logan, the senior member of the firm, has been in business here for many years and the fact that for the past three years he has been one of our county commissioners is proof sufficient that he enjoys the confidence of his towns- men. Mr. Doyle,a_ brother-in-law of Mr. Logan has recently arrived from the west, and being favorably im- pressed with the business outlook, concluded to enter into partnership with Mr. Logan.
