The Wells-Stone Mercantile Com- pany of Laprairie has an announce- ment in this issue of the Herald-Re view in which the fact’js made public that the entire stock will be closed out at cost by the first of May. Some rare bargains will be offered. ; During the absence of Auditor King, Deputy George Cox is looking after the affairs of the office. He is now working on the financial state- ment, which will be made public in a week or two through the columns of the Herald-Review. George E. Dickson, an attorney of Minneapolis and secretary of the Penny Press company, was transact- ing legal business here during the week. He found time to increase the circulation of sthe Press in Grand Rapids by the addition’ of about forty names. ian Mr. Alex. Van Praag, who visited the local lodge ot Odd Fellows dunng the week, proved to be a public en- tertainer of no mean order. He ap- peared at the skating rink as a pedes trian against the fastest skaters, and on Thursday evening he delighted a large audience at Village hall in character songs.
