PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF County Commissioners 10F Itasca County Minn, Held August 19th, 1896. [OFFICIAL PUBLICATION. ] Auditor's Office, Itasca County, Minn. t Pursuant to adjurnment, the Board of County Commissioners of Itasca county met at the Auditor's office, this 19th of August, 1896, Present, Commissioners George Lydick and Henry Logan. The proceedings of the last meeting being read, were, upon motion, approved. It being the time and place designated for the consideration of sealed bids for the con- struction of a bridge across the Thorough- fare of Pokeguma Lake, and the construc- tion of five miles of the proposed new road, Commissioner Logan stated that there was some doubt as to the advisability of at- tempting any of said work at the present time, therefore he moved that all bids for both bridge and road be laid over until August 25th, 1896. Said motion being duly carried. The Auditor was instructed to communi- cate with Maj. W. A. Jones relative to the location of said proposed bridge. Mr. Price appeared before the Board on behalf of the settlers in the southeastern part of the town of Trout Lake and urged upon the commissioners the appropriation of asmallsumof money for the repair and construction of a piece of road to enable such settlers to reach a market, as more fully set forth by petition then presented. Action thereon being deferred until the next meeting. Petition asking that the county be re- districted into five commissioner districts was again taken up. An opinion from the county attorney was read, setting forth the fact that in his opinion there was uo authou- ity of law for tive commissioners in this county, whereupon said petition was laid over. Official bond of E.A. Arnold, court com- missioner, as principal, and Wade Blaker and Frank Sims as sureties, was approved. Application of Bovey & DeLaittre Lumber Co. for an abatement of taxes on cut-over lands from a valuation of $5675.00 to a valua- tion of $1900.00 was, upon motion, recom- mended to the state auditor for approval. Commissioner Lydick stated that Mr. D. M. Gunn was at this time unable to deliver a good and sufficient warranty deed to the lands heretofore purchased by this Board for a poor farm, whereupon a contract and bond duly executed was presented in the sum of $5,000, with D. M.Gunn as principal, and Fred W. Bonness, A. J. Dwyer and Will- jam Deary as sureties, guaranteeing to deliver good and sufficient title to the prop- erty theréin described, whereupon the fol- lowing resolution was adopted: Be it re- solved, that the chairman of this Board be and is hereby authorized to execute for and on behalf of this board the contract for deed by it this day entered into with D.
