Charles Bell Verner, 70, special assistant to the Attorney General, died yesterday at a nursing home at 1833 Kalorama road. He had been in {ll health for about a year. Mr. Verner, whose home was in the Highlands Apartments, came here in 1931 from Tuscaloosa, Ala., where he was prominent as a lawyer, legis- lator and banker. He was law part- ner for many years of former Repre- sentative William B. Oliver of Ala- bama. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Cade Verner; a son, Cade Verner, of Tuscaloosa; s daughter, Mrs. John Weaver, Anniston, Ala.; four grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Stribling and Mrs. Clara McCarey, both of Greenville, 8.
