BELGRADE, Mont., December 5 (®). —Townspeople talked with mingled praise and sorrow today of how bravely Chester Ternan died. The 31-year-old farmer saved his 2-year-old son from their flaming inside and died there with a second son, Charles, 3, in his arms. Their podies were found clutched together. H By the Way— Beth Blaine LUNCHI‘NG at the Mayflower with Evie Robert, who, with her husband, Lawrence “Chip” Wood Robert, is back in town, was rather like being | in the receiving line at a party, every one in the room stopped at her table | to say hello. The Roberts have just returned from a delightful visit in Palm Beach with the Messmore Kendalls who have a glorious house and & new boat, 3o most of the days were spent in bathing suits, aquaplaning, at which they are erpert, and basking in the sun on the white Florida sands under blue skies. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Walker, Evie Robert's parents, have taken Villa Rosa, on Massachusetts avenue, for the season and every one is delighted. The ‘Walker's parties are always perfect—especially a real Maryland supper! No one can equal Mrs. Walker when giving one of these repasis, for evervthing at her suppers is grown at Webley Farms, her estate on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. On our last visit we saw the baby terrapin, probably by now grown beyond recognition, and the little turkeys, which are especially fed on all sorts of delectable foods. All the fruit and vegetables come from the farm also. Among those who stopped by at the table to chat was the newly appointed Ambasador to Russia, Mr. Joseph Davies. Mrs. Wallach Merriam ‘voiced our sentiments that Mrs. Davies looked very beautiful at the Garrett party last Saturday all dressed in black tulle. Mrs. George T. Marye, Mrs. Sidney Cloman and Mrs. Charles B. Howry came and added their welcome. Mrs. Harry Biack and her handsome brother, Henry May, were lunching together. We are all glad that Isabel Black has taken an apartment here for the Winter and furthermore hope that Henry May's official duties will not take him immediately back to Rome, where he has been’living for the past year The death of their father, Col.
