Kern, 35 Hickory ave- nue, Takoma Park, died early Sanday of a heart attack. For the last 11 years she has made her home with her daughter. Mrs. Pierce was born in Rosendale, Wis., and her childhood was spent | there. She was a school teacher and after her marriage went with her hus- band to Clear Lake, Iowa, where they | lived for 30 years. Mr. Pierce died in 1898. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Kern; a son, Frank H. Pierce of Dodge Center, ‘Minn, and three granddaughters. The funeral was held this afternoon from the residence on Hickory avenue, Rev. W. A. Spicer, Rev. F. M. Wilcox, Rev. 1. H. Evans and Rev. C. 8. Long- acre taking part in the service. Burial was in Washington Memorial Park east, died yesterday after a short ill- ness in Providence Hospital. Sister Frances' teaching career in | ‘Washington parochial schools covered approximately 57 years. Earlier she had taught at St. Patrick's Academy and St. Rose’s Technical School. She also had taught at Staunton, Va. A native of Boston, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Dolan Lennon. Her parents were na- tives of Ireland. .
