ROOSEVELT CRAFT SAILSINTO HARBOR Sewanna Pierces Fog Banks in 45-Mile Run from Cape Sable to Shelburne. Ry the Associated Press. ABOARD SCHOONER LIBERTY OFF SHELBURNE, Nova Scotia, July 18.—President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his three sons brought their sturdy Httle schooner Sewanna into the shel- tered waters of Shelburne Harbor late today after a 45-mile run, partly through fog, around the southern tip of Nova Scotia, from Cape Sable. Twice the President’s vacation craft plerced fog banks, once as it sailed east, into the Atlantic and the second time about 10 miles up the east coast of the Canadian province. Fog horns droned out their mono- tone warnings from Oape Sable Light, but the Sewanma, with the escorting destroyer Hopkins and yacht Potomac close to her stern, plugged along through the damp, chilly air and choppy sea. Twice the press boat Liberty lost sight of the presidential eraft. About 20 miles from Shelburne the weather cleared, a warm North At- lantic sun beat down on flotilla decks and the Sewanna hoisted all sails. Hugging to shore, the Sewanna en- tered Shelburne Harbor from the Ate lantic around 3:30 pm. (Eastern standard time) and dropped anchor an hour later close by the little fish- ing village of 1,500 persons. The Chief Executive, heavily beard- ed and tanned, left the Sewanna at the end of the day's voyage and boarded the Potomac to open, by radio signal, the Frontier Centennial Cele- bration at Fort Worth, Tex. He also tried his hand again at fishing before reboarding the Sewanna for supper. Porpoises and tuna could be seen in schools on the trip up the eoast. the deans of i his vacation cruise, which began last Tuesday morning from Pulpit Harbor, Me. He will turn the Sewanna back down the coast and around into the Bay of Fundy once more, sailing up the west coast of Nova Scotia for a later crossing in the vicinity of Grand Manan Island. .
