THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. C, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1935. bors Need Your Campaign Chairman Speaks on Human Needs— and Your Community Chest Goal for 1936 (31.877.900)! “Your Community Chest has fixed a goal which we must attain and I want YOU to have a thorough un-: derstanding of it. “The goal ($1,877,900) which your campaign army (5,500 volunteer workers) has accepted is the small- est amount which your Chest Budget Committee knows the 65 Washington Welfare Agencies can get along on decently during 1936. These are the institu- tions that have been serving the needy of this eity Year in and year out (some of them for 50 years). “This goal of $1.877,900 does not include moneys for relief, which the most competent students of the situ« ation tell us should be provided by the Chest for needy Washingtonians because of sharply reduced relief provided by the Government. If these extra relief needs are to be met YOU must make this cam- paign a 1209, success—or $400,000 more than our goal. Will you recognize this imperative need? Will last year’s givers “UP” their contributions? Will old con- tributors, who were forced by circumstances to drop out last year—will you come in again? Will others whom we may have missed or who have come to Washington recently—join us? “Again—Ilet me repeat—our campaign goal of $1,- 877,900 is for the care of the sick, the aged, needy families, helpless little children, demoralized youth (which care the Government is not now providing and has never yet provided). They, through our 65 Human Welfare Agencies. have first call on our ef- forts and your gifts. They are your neighbers and my neighhors! “Be a Good Neighbor, GIVE (1007, for Chest Agens cies)—be a Better Neighhbor, GIVE (209, more for the relief we’ll have to face!) “Give through your Community Chest! “Give once a year—for all the year! “Faithfully, MLGAJ—”\ Community Chest Campaign Chairman November 11 to 20
