Although suffering from a heart ail- ment for eight months, Mr. Coale had visited friends here Monday, and his death at his home in Forestville yes- terday shocked political circles in Prince Georges. A native of Prince Georges, Mr. Coale was long active in public life, having served 18 years as chairman of the Republican State Central Com- mittee and four years as deputy au- tomobile commissioner of Maryland. September 13.-- Mrs, Margaret L. Davis, 72, widow of George W. Davis, died Wednesday night at her home here following an iliness of several weeks. She is survived by six children— Roy E. Davis, Mrs, Effie Mangum, Mrs. John Harding and Miss Arrie Davis, all of Halpine; Mrs. William Mooney of Washington and Harry E. Davis of Gaithersburg. She also leaves five stepchildren—Mrs. George W. Whipp, Mrs. Alice Scheirer and Mrs. Bessie Kelly all of Washington; Mrs. Harry Finney of Redland and Mrs. Edward Plant of Detroit. She was a sister of Neil and Henry Soper of Washington, Oliver Soper of Poolesville and James Soper of Dickerson. Funeral services for Mrs. Kate Ran- dall Kail, resident of Washington for more than 50 years, will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam Houston, 1417 Allison street. Thomas E. Cogan, 78, retired Navy Yard worker, died yesterday afternoon while riding on a Sixteenth street bus en route here from his home at Seven Oaks, Silver Spring, Md. Born in Washington, February 28, 1857, Cogan resided all his life in this vicinity. After 35 years' service at the Washington Navy Yard he was re- tired about 15 years ago. He was a charter member of Kismet Council, Royal Arcanum, & group orig- inally composed chiefly of employes of the Navy Yard. Patriotic Groups Believed Victim of Heart Attack. Mrs. Margaret de Clare Berry, 65, leader in Washington patriotic groups, was found dead in her apartment 3115 P street yesterday. Death was believed to be due to & heart attack two days earlier. Mrs. Berry was found when police forced the door of the apartment after neighbors reported she had not been seen for two days. Mrs. Berry had been under treatment for a heart af- fiction. A cousin, Brig. Gen. Jefferson R. Keane, 2804 N street, and other rela- tives were notified. Relatives in Con- necticut were expected to arrive here today to make fumeral arrangements. Mrs. Berry was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolu- tion, Dames of the Magna Charta and the Socilety of Colonial Dames.
