FINANCIAL BONDS CONTINUE ON UNEVEN PATH Interest in Few Corporate Issues Helps to Swell Day’s Volume. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, March 30.—The bond market conformed today to its recent pattern of irregularity. Special in- terest in & few of the corporate issues helped to swell the volume, but the list as & whole looked & bit sleepy. The rail group continued a mixed affair. Junior liens of the St. Paul, Baltimore & Ohio, Missouri Pacific and Southern Railway edged up a little, while obligations of Pennsyl- vania, Northern Pacific, Nickel Plate and Erie fell back a bit. A similar split in trend marked the industrial and utility classes. United States Governments continued in their quiet way with the price*range nar- row. Foreign loans showed general improvement. Moderately higher prices were paid for Chile Copper 5s, Postal Telegraph 5s, Western Union 55 and American Telephone 5s. Bonds which dipped slightly included Columbia Gas & Electric 5s, Santa Fe 4s, American Smelting 5s, Goodyear 5s, Kansas Gas & Electric 4';2s and United Drug 5s. Foreign issues which snapped back & point or more included Belgians, French 7%3s and Polish 7s. Other classifications hardened fractionally. Chicago Grain By the Associated Press. CHICAGO, March 30.—Reports of new duststorms Southwest ran wheat prices upward early today. Dodge City, Kans., messages said dust was 50 bad it was impossible to see across the street. Opening unchanged to 3g higher, May 943%,a7%, the wheat market soon rose all around. Corn started 4al> up, May 79'2, and then climbed further. Adding to the bullish effect of dust- storms were advices that next to no wheat for nearby shipment was being offered at Liverpool. Resulting up- turns quickly carried wheat and corn prices more than a cent a bushel above yesterday’'s finish. Meanwhile, new dispatches said the duststorms cov- ered a much wider area than was epparent earlier. Amarillo, Tex., reported terrific eandstorms in that region. Other ad- vices indicated extraordinary blowing of soil extended northward into Ne- braska. Some points said the dust- storms were the worst so far this season and that the air was dark as night. Much of the time, however, buying orders were of only mode:ate volume. Nevertheless, price reactions were slight as a rule and transient. For the time being European mone- tary and political developments were Ignored. Provisions held steady. THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D.
