Tower Signalman Stricken at Post—Life- long Rail Worker. Bpecial Dispatch to The Star. HYATTSVILLE, Md., February 19. —Funeral services for Charles R. Hutchinson, 64, for many years night operator of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Alexandria junction signal tower at Block street here, who was found dead early yesterday morning by the conductor of a passing freight train, will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at the Hutchinson home here. Interment will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery. Mr. Hutchinson's death, caused by a cerebral hemorrhage, followed his efforts to wire for help, it was re- vealed today. After he had put a train through at 4:20 am,, an indis- tinct message, believed to have been from him, was received at Baltimore. Mr. Hutchinson, a native of Balti- more, and & son of a locomotive engi- neer, the late Robert A. Hutchinson, had always been in the railroad busi- ness. He came to Hyattsville in 1890 as an employe of the Baltimore & Ohio. For a time he served as sta- tion agent here, but most of the time served in the Alexandria Junction signal tower. He held a record of 34 consecutive years with the loss of just one day from his work. Mr. Hutchinson, in his younger years, boxed and swam and taught most of the youngsters in this section | how to swim. He served for several years as first sergeant in Co.
